Heavy rain hammered on the roof of the car as Elena and I sat in waiting. I stared at the droplets of water as they rushed down the glass window in front of me. The rain hasn't given up all day. Elena was agitated, she kept glancing over her shoulder, her hands tightly gripping the steering wheel.
I couldn't blame her, if the person I loved was being held and tortured by a group of vengeful vampires, I wouldn't be calm either.
"We should be in there." Elena muttered
"No, Damon was right. It's too dangerous." I admitted. While I hated being sidelined, I couldn't blame him for it. There were far too many vampires in there.
"Since when has danger stopped you?" Elena asked, trying to make a joke even though the humor didn't reach her voice.
"Fair point." I said with a quiet laugh.
She suddenly reached for the leather bag that was resting on the ground by my feet. She pulled it up and set it on her lap, rummaging through Alaric's hunting gear.
"What are you doing?" I asked cautiously. She then pulled out a large syringe that was full of vervain. Before she could answer me, a tree branch fell on top of the car, covering the windshield and causing the two of us to jump.
"I'm going in to get Stefan. Either come with me or stay in the car, but you're not stopping me." Elena said
Elena opened the car door. Heading into a house full of vampires with only one syringe of vervain. I sighed heavily and grabbed a handful of darts, shoving them into the pocket of my jacket.
I opened the passenger door and hopped out into the torrential rain. I quickly followed after her as the two of us ran towards the house. Once we made it through the woods and up to the property, Elena and I vaulted over the wall that surrounded the porch. We snuck over and Elena quickly pressed her back to the brick wall, trying to avoid being seen. I crouched down beside her.
Elena went to look around the corner before a voice interrupted her. "Billy, Jacob, get back in here." I heard Fredrick call out. I glanced around only to notice a set of stairs heading down into a basement. There was an iron gate at the bottom but it was already open.
I nudged Elena and gestured towards it. She nodded and stood up. I quickly got up as well and grabbed her arm, slowing her down and putting her behind me, before the two of us descended the stairs into the basement.
We pushed past the iron gate and came across a wooden door that was closed. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I glanced around cautiously before I jammed my elbow into the glass and shattered it. I then reached my hand inside and unlocked the door.
I pushed open the door, smiling slightly to myself that it had worked. On the other side of the door, we found a long stretch of corridor where a vamp was standing, he had earphones in and he wasn't paying attention. He then suddenly pushed away from the wall and began to walk towards us.
I noticed Elena tightening her grip around the syringe in her hand. I reached down and grabbed a hold of the syringe, shaking my head slightly to let her know that I would do it. She reluctantly loosened her grip and allowed me to take the syringe.
Before he could get any closer however, someone stabbed him in the neck with a syringe and knocked him down. Damon stared at the two of us with a frustrated expression on his face.
"Are you insane?" He directed towards me
"What, it was her idea." I said, gesturing to Elena.
"Enough. We have to find Stefan." Elena interrupted us. She walked past the two of us and stormed down the hallway. Damon shot me a look as the two of us followed after her.
