Once the Salvatore brothers were out of hearing range, I started to walk in the same direction. I didn't have a plan, at all. But I knew that I couldn't stand by the car while three people I love were in danger. I traipsed through the woods until I came across a large rundown house. It would have been stunning if it had been renovated.
I stood outside the house just at the edge of the stairs. There was no sound coming from within, and I couldn't tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. There was a sudden blur of movement, and I gasped harshly out of shock. A strong pair of arms wrapped around my body and the world blurred out of focus. It only lasted for a split second, and the next thing I knew I was face to face with a tall, well dressed man.
"Hello. And who might you be?" He asked with a curious yet calculating gaze. His hands were pinning me to the closed door. His grip was tight, but not bruisingly so. He knows that even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to escape him.
"I could ask you the same question." I pointed out. I reached up and wrapped my hand tightly around his wrist. The feeling of his vampirism was unlike anything I've ever felt before. It was unbelievably old and powerful. Like normal vampirism had been dialed up by a thousand.
The man gasped harshly, his face contorting in discomfort as he snatched his hand away from me like he had been burned. "That's not very nice." He tutted, scolding me like a misbehaving puppy.
"It wasn't supposed to be." I said firmly with a harsh glare. I went to grab him again, but he got me first. With vampiric speed, my back was pushed against the door again and my hands were pinned above my head. The man held my wrists in one hand while his other one wrapped around my throat.
"If you don't want me to snap Althea's neck, you will give me the girl. I won't ask again." The man called out. I could tell he wasn't talking to me, and rather to the Salvatores.
"How the hell do you know my name?" I asked him. I kept my body still regardless of my need to escape his grasp.
"I knew who you were the moment you laid a hand on me." The man mused. Somehow he knew who I was, and he knew that I was a siphoner.
"I'll come with you." Elena suddenly appears at the top of the stairs with her arms crossed over her chest defensively. "Just please don't hurt my friends. They just wanted to help."
The man let go of my wrists and spun me around so my back was to his chest. His hand was still around my throat in a threatening manner as he walked over to the stairs. We walked up a few steps as the man continued to stare down Elena. Her eyes flickered between the two of us with a worried gaze.
"What game are you playing with me?" The man spoke in an eerily enraged tone.
Elena suddenly uncrossed her arms and pulled out a glass bottle. She pulled the pin out of the vervain grenade and threw it at the man. The glass bottle shattered upon the impact and the flash caused me to flinch. A shard of glass cut into my hand, making me wince at the pain.
The burning of the vervain as it hit his skin caused him to lurch backwards and loosen his grip on me. I took the opportunity to lunge out of his grasp and rush over to Elena. The two of us ended up huddled on the floor together beside the wall.
The man seemed to lose his cool composure as he growled at us. He then started to stalk slowly up the stairs with a look of furry on his face. His decision to be slow was evidently a mistake as Stefan suddenly raced down the stairs with a gun in his hand. He repeatedly shot wooden bullets at the man, before he leapt forward and tackled him down the stairs.
The two men tumbled down the stairs, and at the bottom, the mystery man came out on top. He seemed cocky as he stood above Stefan, but that shifted the moment Damon shoved a massive wooden spike into his chest. Damon had a malicious look on his face as he pushed him until his back was against the door. How the tables have turned.
