yoongi wasn't much of a talker and often wondered how he ended up with his boyfriends. how did such awesome people choose him? that same thought popped into his head as he looked at you. could someone as gorgeous and lovable as you really like someone as quiet and boring as him? even though his partners always told him how amazing he was, it was hard for him to believe. and now, the idea of going on a date with you—when he could barely keep a conversation going—had him feeling even more unsure.

where was he supposed to take you? what did you even like doing? yoongi wanted to keep it simple—something at home—but his mind wouldn't stop running in circles. would you think it was boring compared to your dates with jimin and jungkook? would you enjoy hanging out and putting together a puzzle while you get to know each other? what if you were expecting something more exciting? he could cook, but what if that wasn't enough? a movie night? too basic. game night? what if you thought it was childish? he kept overthinking everything, worried whatever he planned wouldn't meet whatever expectations you had. knowing the kind of person you were, yoongi doubted you had a specific bar he was supposed to reach. deep down, he knew (if you felt the same about him) you'd probably be happy with anything you planned, but he couldn't stop overthinking it.

taehyung, who sat on the barstool next to you, could tell his boyfriend was going through a war in his mind—the fact that yoongi hadn't told him to stop staring at him showed he was deep in his thoughts. he knew he was worried about your date and his confession to you. yoongi was acting similarly to how he was when jungkook started dating jimin and seokjin and when they eventually asked him out.

'it looks like hyung's going to need a hand,' taehyung thought, a mischievous smile on his face.

yoongi mentally cursed as he watched you laugh at something on your phone. your smile was one of the most beautiful he'd seen. right next to taehyung's and jimin's smiles. and namjoon's. and hoseok's. fuck all of his partners had gorgeous smiles. god, he wished he could make you smile like that someday.

he watched you whisper something to taehyung and couldn't help but wonder what was so funny. he wanted to laugh with you like that. he wanted to be the one to make you laugh.

"i don't think yoongi knows he's been staring at me for almost ten minutes," you whispered, touching your cheek. "is there something on my face? or is there something wrong with my outfit?"

your eyes widened at taehyung's loud laugh, and you quickly looked at yoongi, who was somehow—still blankly staring at you. did he zone out on you? how did he not flinch and taehyung's laugh?

"he's still staring!" you whispered.

"the look on his face is the kind of look he has whenever he zones out deep in thought," taehyung explained, whispering in your ear. "before i snap him out of his thoughts, i have a question for you."

"what is it?"

"do you like him? yoongi-hyung?" he suddenly asked, and you nearly choked on your spit.

"uh-"

"you do. the way you're blushing and the look on your face is a clear sign too," taehyung said, somehow soft enough that yoongi couldn't hear you. he was leaning against the sink, arms crossed. "you're avoiding eye contact, too."

'time for me to play cupid and give hyung a little push.'

yoongi wished he could be in taehyung's position right now. he wanted to be able to casually talk with you.

"hyung!" taehyung nearly screamed, snapping yoongi out of his thoughts. "you've been staring at us—mainly at y/n for a while now. is something wrong?"
