"why didn't you tell me?" jinyoung groaned. "imagine how shocked i was to walk into the store to see you posing with some man on a giant poster? and then i see you posing in a different photo with a lip balm from ksj beauty."

"my bad, young-ah," you chuckled as you entered the elevator. you were on your way to seokjin's office after receiving a call from secretary cho asking to see you. "i haven't told anyone, and i don't know why. everyone who knows found out in the same way you did. i didn't think it was something to announce..."

"y/n," your friend said, sounding very unimpressed. "this is huge! not everyone just models—let alone for a company as big as ksj beauty! i'm not into make-up and stuff, but i know who the man is."

"really? kim seokjin's well-known outside of his brand?" you asked, genuinely surprised because you had no idea who he was before navi told you.

"do you live under a rock?" he gasped. "sure, it's the success of the ksj beauty that made him so popular in the business world, but he's a model himself. i used to see him in men's magazines, brand posters, tv adverts and even artist's music videos. these days, his focus is the company."

"i had no idea..." you trailed at the thought of seeing your landlord in a music video or magazine. you stepped off the elevator with a sigh. "i'd love to keep talking, but i have a meeting with my manager now."

"wow, you're actually a model. a meeting with your manager?" jinyoung said. "i'll let you do your shit, but don't forget about me when you get famous!"

"i don't think i'll get famous. even if i did, i'd never forget about you," you told your friend. you were telling the truth — jinyoung was your only friend other than navi, and you were so glad for the assignment because it introduced you to such a wonderful person.

shortly after you said your goodbye, you knocked on the door to seokjin's office. secretary cho wasn't by his desk, so you assumed he was waiting for you inside.

your assumption was correct when the door opened to reveal secretary cho. "miss baek! glad you could make it. come in and have a seat on the couch," he greeted, stepping aside to give you space to walk in.

you walked into the office expecting to see seokjin, but there was no one. he wasn't sitting on the couch or by his desk. "where's seokjin?" you asked, sitting while secretary cho walked over to the mini-fridge.

"mr kim stepped out for a meeting, but it should be over anytime soon," he told you. "want anything other than water?"

"i think water will be fine for now," you said, watching secretary cho pour you a glass. your gaze wandered around the office for the first time since you arrived. you hadn't noticed the two large shelves on either side of the ksj beauty logo on the wall behind seokjin's dark wooden desk. the shelves were filled with neatly arranged books, awards, and framed photos, but your attention landed on the pictures.

one frame showed him at the company's opening ceremony while another captured him with the staff, but the rest weren't of him—they were just of the guys. your eyes lingered on a photo of taehyung smiling as he held the adorable pomeranian you remembered seeing the day you moved in. next to it was one of jungkook and yoongi standing side by side, smiling brightly, as they gave a thumbs up — a small abstract sculpture separated their photos from one of namjoon that looked like it was taken during a photoshoot. he was lying on his stomach, wearing a denim jacket, and gazing at a camera with a serious expression.

next to namjoon's photo was jimin, his hair dyed a beautiful pink. he wore a black knit sweater with dark pink and yellow lettering, pouting adorably at the camera. below jimin's frame, on the shelf beneath, was a picture of hoseok standing by the side of a road. it was a selfie of him pouting as he held a piece sign against his cheek.
