Taehyung returned home in the evening, feeling the weight of the day. As he stepped into the spacious living room, his eyes immediately landed on his husband, Jungkook, lounging on the sofa, completely engrossed in a cartoon. Surrounding him were scattered bowls of chips and cartons of juice.
Taehyung sighed at the sight, shaking his head slightly. It was as if the mansion had turned into a kid’s den in just one day of younger's reign. The once pristine and modern living room now looked like a teenager's hangout, courtesy of Jungkook.
Taehyung sighed, shaking his head as he watched his husband lounging without a care in the world. "Unbelievable," he muttered to himself.
Jungkook, sensing Taehyung’s presence, glanced over briefly before turning his attention back to the screen.
“Hey,” he said casually, popping another chip into his mouth. “You’re home.”
“Clearly,” Taehyung muttered, walking over to the sofa.
He stood in front of Jungkook, blocking his view of the TV.
"Do you mind?" Jungkook asked, raising an eyebrow but still not moving from his spot.
“This is what you’ve been doing all day, Jungkook?”
Jungkook blinked up at him, unfazed.
“I had a productive day, thank you very much,” he said, pointing at the empty juice cartons as if they were evidence of his labor.
Taehyung sighed, plopping down beside him.
“You’re a menace, you know that?”
“I’ve been told,” Jungkook responded smugly, munching on another chip.
They sat in silence for a few moments before Taehyung turned to him, his tone shifting.
"Anyway, you should get ready."
Jungkook glanced at him, his brow furrowed.
"For what?"
Taehyung stretched his arms, leaning back on the couch.
"Family dinner. Namjoon, Jin.... and my father are expecting us tonight."
At the mention of the dinner, Jungkook visibly stiffened. His carefree expression faltered, replaced by nervousness.
"Wait... we’re meeting them tonight?" he asked, his voice a little higher than usual.
Taehyung frowned, confused by Jungkook's sudden shift in mood.
"Yeah. Why? It’s just a dinner."
Jungkook groaned softly, covering his face with his hands.
"Just a dinner?" he muttered, sinking deeper into the couch.
"I crashed Namjoon hyung and Jin hyung’s wedding, Taehyung. I lied about knowing them just for free food! And we barely even spoke during our own wedding because everything was such a rush. What if Jin hyung still remembers? What if he’s mad?"
Taehyung blinked, realization dawning on him. He’d forgotten about that little detail. At Namjoon and Jin’s wedding, Jungkook had shown up as an uninvited guest, only there for the buffet, causing quite a stir until Namjoon and Jin decided to let him stay for fun. And now, this was the first time Jungkook would be properly meeting them since that fiasco.
Taehyung smirked, but there was a gentleness in his eyes as he rested a hand on Jungkook’s knee.
"Relax," he said softly, "Jin hyung isn’t the type to hold a grudge. If anything, he probably finds it funny."
