Three days had passed since that tense day at the hospital. Taehyung seemed calmer now, more composed, as if some of the weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Both he and Namjoon were focused on making their father’s final days as peaceful and memorable as possible. They had agreed, in quiet solidarity, that dwelling on the inevitable would only rob them of the precious time they had left with Taejoon.

Right now, it was Taehyung and Jungkook's turn to stay with Taejoon. The hospital room was quiet except for the soft beeping of the monitors. Taejoon was fast asleep, his breathing slow and steady. Taehyung sat by his father’s bedside, his gaze fixed on the frail man, lost in thought.

Jungkook, however, was just coming back from taking a call with Hoseok. The moment he stepped into the room, his eyes caught sight of something that made his stomach twist with jealousy.

There was Taehyung, standing near the window, looking uncomfortable as a nurse—a young woman with a smirk plastered on her face—leaned in a little too closely for Jungkook’s liking. She was drying off Taehyung’s shirt, which appeared to be soaked, her hands lingering far longer than necessary. She seemed far more interested in Taehyung than her actual job.

The way her hand grazed his shoulder and lingered a second too long at his chest was enough to ignite a spark of possessiveness inside Jungkook.

"Excuse me," the brat in Jungkook resurfaced after a long time, a smug grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he walked up to the pair.

"I didn’t realize drying off a shirt required so much... attention."

Taehyung glanced up, visibly relieved at Jungkook’s arrival, though his discomfort had been obvious.

"Kook, I—"

"Ah, is it really necessary to get that close? I mean, I’m sure Taehyung knows how to dry off himself," Jungkook cut in, his voice laced with fake innocence as he raised an eyebrow at the nurse.

The nurse, taken aback by Jungkook’s sudden interruption, glanced between the two men.

"Oh, I was just trying to help," she said, though her tone was hardly apologetic. She shot Jungkook a coy smile, clearly trying to brush off the tension. "It was my mistake, after all."

Jungkook’s eyes narrowed, but his smile widened.

"Oh, of course. But you see, I’m quite good at taking care of my husband myself."

The word "husband" was emphasized, and it hung in the air like a challenge. Jungkook slid his arm around Taehyung’s waist, pulling him close in one swift motion. Taehyung looked surprised at the sudden contact, but he didn’t resist, knowing exactly what Jungkook was doing.

"I’m sure you’ve got other patients to attend to," Jungkook added, his tone dripping with smugness.

The nurse’s smirk faltered.

"Right," she muttered, clearly not expecting this kind of reaction.

"I’ll just... leave you two, then." With one last lingering glance at Taehyung, she turned and left the room, clearly annoyed.

Once the door shut behind her, Jungkook let out a breath, his grip around Taehyung loosening as he stepped back.

"What was that about?" Taehyung asked, raising an eyebrow at Jungkook, though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Though, after shooing the nurse out of the room, Jungkook's mind immediately shifted gears. The jealousy still simmered in his chest, and his bratty side had kicked into overdrive. Oh, he was definitely going to make that nurse pay for making HIS husband uncomfortable.
