The room was filled with a heavy silence. Taehyung sat upright against the headboard, his eyes flicking between Jimin and Jungkook. His protective arm rested against Jungkook’s waist, steadying the younger man as Jungkook leaned his back against Taehyung's chest. Despite the relative calm of their posture, the tension in the air was palpable.

Jimin stood a few steps away, his earlier teasing demeanor replaced by a somber expression. The weight of what he had said hung heavily in the room. He let out a soft sigh, his eyes darting to Jungkook before hesitantly looking back at Taehyung.

“We’ve got a name, Taehyung,” Jimin repeated, his voice measured yet cautious.

Taehyung’s jaw tensed. He leaned forward slightly, careful not to disturb Jungkook but visibly alert.

“Who?”

Jimin took a moment, his gaze flickering to Jungkook again.

“Choi Minwoo,” he finally said, his tone steady but laced with unease.

At the mention of the name, Taehyung’s brows furrowed. His expression darkened, but there was a flicker of confusion in his eyes.

“Choi Minwoo?” he repeated, almost to himself. “Who is that? I don’t recall anyone by that name.”

Jimin shrugged slightly, looking down as if the answer eluded him as well.

“It’s not someone I’ve come across before either. All I know is that he's a low life gangster, but the connection—”

Before he could finish, Jungkook’s soft voice interrupted him.

“Well, I think you guys did all this research unnecessarily.”

Both Taehyung and Jimin turned to look at him, their confusion evident. Taehyung's grip on Jungkook tightened slightly, his protective instincts flaring at the unexpected statement.

“What do you mean, bun?” Taehyung asked gently, though his voice carried an edge of urgency.

Jungkook let out a small sigh, his gaze fixed somewhere distant as he finally spoke.

“I know who did this.”

Jimin’s jaw dropped slightly, while Taehyung’s expression shifted to one of disbelief.

“You know who did this to you, bun?” Taehyung asked, his voice barely above a whisper as he stared at Jungkook with a mix of shock and anger..... anger for the one responsible for all this mess.

“Yes,” Jungkook replied simply, turning to look at Taehyung directly. His voice remained calm, but his words carried a weight that left no room for doubt.

“It was your...... receptionist. And Choi Minwoo.... happens to be her brother.”

Jimin let out a low whistle, the sound breaking the thick silence that followed Jungkook’s revelation. Taehyung, however, looked stunned, his mind racing to process the information.

“My... receptionist?” he asked, his tone laced with disbelief. His mind replayed the video footage from the day they received the ransom tape. He recalled a woman standing in front of Jungkook, her expression haughty and mocking. At the time, she had seemed vaguely familiar, but he hadn’t been able to place her.

Now, with Jungkook’s words, the pieces began to fall into place.

Jungkook nodded, his gaze steady.

“Yes, Taehyung. The receptionist who works for you. Weeks ago, when I visited your office, she was the one who tried to humiliate me in front of everyone. She insulted me, called me names, and then…” He paused, his lips pressing into a thin line. “Then I gave her a taste of her own medicine. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but apparently, she held a grudge.”
