The morning sun crept through the curtains, casting a soft, golden hue across the room. Jungkook stirred, eyes still heavy with sleep, but an unusual warmth filled him, easing him awake.

As he blinked his eyes open, the first thing he saw was Taehyung, sitting up beside him, watching him with an expression so gentle it nearly stole his breath away.

“Morning,” Jungkook murmured, voice quite groggy than usual, still half-dazed as he blinked up at him.

Taehyung smiled softly, an unspoken thought lingering in his gaze.

“Good morning, bun.”

They stared at each other for a few seconds, a silence thick with words unspoken hanging between them. But just as Jungkook opened his mouth to speak, an unexpected sneeze escaped him, making him cover his nose with both hands out of instinct, cheeks flushing pink with embarrassment.

Taehyung’s lips twitched, holding back a laugh as he watched the slightly flustered expression on Jungkook’s face.

“Cute,” he murmured to himself.

Clearing his throat, Jungkook pulled his hands away, looking down as he gathered his thoughts. A more serious expression began to take over his features as he took a deep breath, feeling the weight of last night’s confession settle over him again.

“Taehyungie…” he started, voice barely above a whisper, his gaze shifting down to his hands, fidgeting with the blanket nervously. “I need to apologize for last night.”

Taehyung’s brows furrowed slightly.

“Why would you need to apologize?” he asked, his voice gentle yet steady, giving Jungkook his full attention.

“I just—” Jungkook sighed, his frustration visible as he searched for the right words.

“I didn’t mean to put so much on you. You’re already dealing with so much, and I went and unloaded my feelings on you at the worst possible time.” He looked down, his hands tightening into fists.

“I don’t want to make things harder for you, Taehyungie. Especially when…” He trailed off, not wanting to bring up the loss they were both still processing.

“Especially when what?” Taehyung asked quietly, prompting him to finish.

Jungkook took a shaky breath.

“When you’ve just lost your father,” he said softly.

“I know how much he meant to you, and the last thing I wanted was to burden you with my feelings. It was selfish. I just… I couldn’t help it, Taehyung.....”

As he spoke, Taehyung’s gaze softened, watching Jungkook struggle to express the guilt he’d clearly been carrying since last night. Without another word, Taehyung reached over and gently placed his hand on Jungkook’s head, patting it softly—a familiar, comforting gesture that instantly quieted Jungkook’s restless thoughts.

“Jungkook,” he said, voice calm but firm. “Don’t apologize. You have nothing to be sorry for.”

Jungkook looked up, his eyes filled with uncertainty.

“But—”

“No,” Taehyung cut him off, his voice gentle but insistent.

“I...... I’m ready to give us a real chance. I want to try, Jungkook.”

Jungkook’s eyes widened in surprise, as though he couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing.

“You… you really mean that?” he whispered, hope and disbelief blending in his voice.
