As Snape had agreed with the headmaster, he handed the sword to the headmaster the next day, as he went to the headmaster's office.
Of course, he spent the next few hours after having faced the basilisk, learned a memory of Salazar, and sealed the entire secret chamber, he began to study the magical metal as much as he could, but even he found it difficult to see some things and not even the house elves he asked for help could assist, saying that the Goblins were very powerful in the matter of forging magical items.
In the end, he marked everything he could from the sword while trying to figure out how the metal worked was to mark everything important that Snape could extract.
"That blade may be a challenge, just with the difficulty of having the goblins create their blade." Snape murmured, not to mention the ancient runes, which he found nothing like some traces of a language long lost since the time of Merlin, while modern wizards ended up not being interested in it over the centuries and it was lost to continue a more simplified language.
As Snape continued trying to plan how he would create such a blade, Dumbledore saw him sighing and immediately looked at the blade while studying it attentively to make sure everything was okay with the weapon, despite clearly showing that he used it in some way in a fight, the blade was still intact and Snape polished it before handing it over.
"I can feel that this blade was used harshly... but against what did the boy use it..." Dumbledore murmured and looked to Fawkes for an answer, but the phoenix just tilted her head to the side not knowing the answer, after all she even tried to look for Snape at the headmaster's request, but did not find him.
"It seems I will never know after all." He said in the end knowing that even though he wanted to ask more, he did not, after all, Snape would not say anything.
He then opened the glass of the Sorting Hat again and woke it up at that moment. "Albus?! Are you here to tell me that another presumptuous, arrogant, vain, conceited, proud, pretentious, haughty, and egocentric, Slytherin student is here to ask for more irrational things!! I swear Albus, I am about to retire if things continue like this!!" The hat seemed in a bad mood at that moment.
"You are exaggerating... and you can't even retire..." He said in the end.
"You are right, but I can take a vacation for almost a year." He grumbled.
"He already does that every year, after all he is only called to choose the new children..." A painting grumbled.
"Let me have my moment of revolt!" The hat exclaimed in the end and looked at Albus. "What do you want?" He said in the same tone.
"Returning the sword let me put it back until a Gryffindor student picks it up." Albus commented.
"Yes... The Snape who took your sword no longer has the right to use it." He spoke in the end.
While Dumbledore finished his things in his office, Snape had left the place and was heading to the stairs that move to leave the tower. Midway, he ended up encountering Potter along with the other Marauders emerging from another staircase.
It had been a while since the werewolf incident happened. They had not approached Snape anymore, obviously for fear of a possible expulsion from school, which would practically ruin their careers. But also what happened at the Whomping Willow was the highest point of fear they ever had of someone. And hearing from Dr. Penelope about the state Lupin was in his transformed form made it clear to them that Snape was no longer human.
