Many families were gathering at this moment, after their children had returned from their classes at Hogwarts; it was time to go over a few points with them.
More and more meetings were taking place between parents and their children, as discussions began to arise about their school performance. Some parents offered congratulations, others remained neutral, seeing that their children had done no more than their duty. But a few wore stern expressions, not just because of grades—though perhaps these were not the real issue—but because, in the case of pure-blood families, the problem lay with a certain Slytherin student.
Many nobles were dissatisfied with their children's performance, as they had been humiliated by a half-blood. This dissatisfaction extended beyond the Norton family; many other powerful families with students in Slytherin who had suffered at the hands of Snape were also quite displeased.
One such family was the Rosier family, which came as no surprise. Mrs. Rosier was currently in a meeting, gathered to discuss the school year and what she expected now from her son, who had already graduated. But as soon as the conversation turned to Severus Snape, the atmosphere became tense.
"How have they not caught that miserable half-blood yet?" the woman said angrily, glaring at the men she had hired. She called them over as they handed in their investigation reports, and for the fourth time, she found herself with nothing. She dismissed these incompetent men as they continually brought news that displeased her. None of those she had designated to investigate Snape had managed to capture him, as he always managed to escape. She constantly called them incompetent.
"My lady, we don't know where he is. He simply vanished..." murmured one of the men investigating Snape. Snape kept his tracks hidden and was doing it very well lately, especially knowing that so many enemies would be attempting something against him.
"How can you not find him? He has a registered house with a Muggle, doesn't he? Why haven't you gone there yet?" she complained, while her son, beside her, observed. He was one of the first to suffer at Snape's hands, and now that his mother was involved, he could do nothing, not even express his opinion, whether he agreed with her methods or not.
"I'm sorry, my lady, but he isn't even living there..." murmured the man.
"What do you mean, more excuses? You're incompetent! Perhaps I should get rid of you now," she said angrily, reaching for her wand, startling the man.
"Calm down," an elderly voice spoke up at that moment, as the woman turned toward him.
"Father, you can't let a half-blood tarnish the Rosier name like this and harm your grandson in this way..." she replied.
"I didn't say I would let it happen, Victoria. It just isn't wise to dispose of a family guard or subordinate so easily," he began. "That boy has evaded your grasp the entire year. You're not going to catch him now... If you can't capture him, lure him to you," he said calmly.
"What do you mean by that?" she murmured, until finally, her eyes widened in understanding. "Of course! I just spoke of it! He has a house, a Muggle father... We should use that," she muttered, and her father nodded.
"Exactly," he murmured, pleased with his daughter's realization.
"Mother, I heard from Lucius that Snape and his father weren't very close. This was talked about among students, and they came to the conclusion that there's no point in doing anything with him..." her son murmured.
