Chapter 24: The Desperate Search

Filip's POV

My hands shook as I stared at my phone, the screen flickering with missed calls and unanswered texts. Rena was gone. She had been right there with me, at our wedding celebration, and then she vanished. Panic surged through me, tightening my chest with every second that passed. This wasn't just about losing her-it was about the gnawing fear that someone else had taken her away from me.

Jason.

I slammed my fist onto the table, fury boiling beneath the surface. I needed help. I couldn't do this alone. Without a second thought, I grabbed my phone and dialed the one person I knew I could trust-Leon, my closest friend, my brother in everything but blood. He would know what to do.

The line barely rang before Leon's calm voice came through. "Filip, what's going on?"

"It's Rena," I said, my voice strained. "She's been taken. I know it's Jason. I need you to help me find her."

There was a pause on the other end, but Leon didn't need any further explanation. He knew how much Rena meant to me, how far I would go to protect her. "Where was she last seen?" he asked, all business now.

"At the estate. We were celebrating the wedding. She was right there, and now she's just... gone."

"I'll track her," Leon said, already moving into action. "Stay put. I'll call you as soon as I find something."

I paced the room, my mind racing with a million thoughts. How had I let this happen? I should have been more careful. Rena was supposed to be safe with me, not in the hands of that twisted psycho.

Minutes felt like hours, but soon my phone buzzed. Leon had found something. "Filip, I've tracked her to an old industrial part of the city. There's an abandoned building there. It's not far from where Jason used to hang out when we were younger."

My heart leapt in my chest. "Send me the location. I'm heading there now."

---

The abandoned building loomed in the darkness, its broken windows and crumbling walls casting eerie shadows across the street. Leon was already there, waiting for me outside, his face grim.

"He's inside," Leon said quietly. "We need to move fast. I don't know what condition she's in."

I didn't need to be told twice. We burst through the doors, my heart pounding as I searched the dimly lit interior. Every corner of the building felt suffocating, the fear of what I might find clawing at me.

And then I saw her.

Rena, tied to a chair in the center of the room, her wrists bound, her face pale and tear-streaked. Jason stood beside her, his expression wild and unhinged, his hand gripping her shoulder as if she was already his.

"Let her go!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the empty space.

Jason turned slowly, a twisted smile on his face. "You think you can take her from me, Filip? You think you can keep her when she's been mine all along?"

I took a step forward, rage coursing through my veins. "She's not yours. She never was. Let her go, or I'll end this right here."

Jason's grip tightened on Rena, but Leon was faster. Before Jason could react, Leon lunged at him, tackling him to the ground in a swift motion. I rushed to Rena, untying her hands and pulling her into my arms.

"Rena," I whispered, my voice cracking as I held her close. "You're safe now. I'm here."

She sobbed into my chest, her body trembling. "Filip... I thought I'd never see you again."

I kissed her hair, my heart aching at the sight of her so broken, so fragile. But she was with me now, and I wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt her again.
