Chapter 6: Hidden Truths

Filip's POV

The music faded into the background as Rena and I left the gym, our laughter echoing in the quiet hallway. Tonight had been a whirlwind, a magical escape from the pressures of school and the unexpected rivalry that had formed between Jason and me. But beneath the surface of our happiness, a storm was brewing-one that I had been trying to keep from Rena.

As we stepped outside, I felt the cool night air wash over us, but it did little to calm the tension in my chest. The truth was, Rena had no idea who Jason really was, or who I was. I was a billionaire mafia boss, and Jason was a rival in more ways than one.

My family had long been entrenched in the underworld, a legacy passed down through generations. I had worked hard to build my empire, earning respect and power, but with that came enemies. Jason belonged to a different faction-one that had always eyed our territory, looking for an opportunity to take us down.

I glanced at Rena, her eyes shining with joy, and felt a pang of guilt. I wanted to keep her safe from the chaos of my life, but I also knew that secrets had a way of surfacing, and the truth would come out sooner or later.

"Are you okay?" Rena asked, her voice pulling me from my thoughts. "You look a little distant."

"Just thinking about how much I enjoyed tonight," I replied, forcing a smile. "You really made this Valentine's Day special for me."

"Me too," she said, her face lighting up. "I still can't believe how crazy it got with Jason."

I nodded, but a knot formed in my stomach. "Yeah, he can be persistent."

As we walked toward my car, I spotted a black SUV parked across the street. A chill ran down my spine as I recognized it. Jason's men were watching. The rivalry between our families had always been fierce, and I couldn't let them know that Rena was now in the crosshairs.

"Let's take a different route," I said suddenly, my tone more serious. "I think I saw a shortcut through the park."

"Sure!" Rena replied, oblivious to the tension that was suddenly clouding my thoughts.

As we turned into the park, I tried to focus on her and the way her hair caught the moonlight. I wanted to share this moment, but the weight of my life loomed over me like a dark shadow. I couldn't let Jason use Rena against me. She meant too much.

Jason's POV

I watched from the shadows as Filip and Rena walked away, the smugness of the evening quickly evaporating. It had been satisfying to confront them at the dance, but seeing Filip with her had ignited a fire within me. I knew Filip's secret-his family's mafia ties-and I planned to use that knowledge to my advantage.

I had been biding my time, waiting for the right moment to strike. Now that Rena was involved, I had leverage. Filip might think he could play it cool, but his weakness was clear as day.

I climbed into my SUV, signaling to my men to follow. "We're not done yet," I said, my voice low. "We're going to make sure Filip knows exactly what he's up against."

Filip's POV

As we strolled through the park, I felt Rena's presence grounding me. The trees whispered secrets in the wind, but I pushed aside the thoughts of my family's dark legacy. "Do you come here often?" I asked, trying to steer the conversation toward lighter topics.

"Only when I need to clear my head," she replied, glancing at me. "It's peaceful here."

"It is," I agreed, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. But that calm was shattered when a loud crash echoed through the night, and I froze.
