Chapter 29: Back to the City, Plans for the Honeymoon

Rena's POV

The drive back to the city felt heavier than I expected. I could sense Filip’s mood hadn’t fully shifted after seeing Friend. His possessiveness had flared up again, even though I had reassured him countless times that he was the only one I wanted. I glanced over at him as he drove, his expression unreadable but his grip on the steering wheel tight.

"Filip," I said softly, breaking the silence, "are you okay?"

He didn’t answer right away, his eyes fixed on the road. "I’m fine," he said eventually, though I knew him well enough to know he wasn’t. "We just need to get back and settle things. I have some plans for us."

I didn’t press further, sensing that he needed time to cool off. But in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but think about Friend. The encounter had been brief, but the jealousy that had flashed in Filip’s eyes lingered with me. I just wanted him to trust me, to know that my past didn’t threaten what we had now.

We reached the city as the sun dipped below the skyline, casting a warm orange glow over the buildings. Filip parked the car and helped me out, his mood seeming to soften as we stepped into our apartment.

"I’ve been working on something special," he said, turning to me with a look that was both possessive and determined. "Our honeymoon."

My eyes widened in surprise. "Our honeymoon? I thought we were waiting because of your business."

"I’ve taken care of everything," he said, his tone firm. "Now, it’s time for me to take care of you."

He pulled out his phone and showed me the details—an exclusive, luxurious resort by the sea, completely private. Everything was planned down to the last detail: a villa overlooking the ocean, private dinners, spa treatments. It looked perfect.

"I wanted something that would remind you that you're mine, Rena. This honeymoon will be just for us. No distractions. No one else."

His voice was calm, but I could hear the possessiveness beneath his words. He wanted to whisk me away, to a place where no one else could interfere, where it would just be the two of us. Part of me was thrilled at the idea—escaping from the chaos of the city, having time to just breathe and be with Filip. But another part of me hesitated, sensing that this wasn’t just about romance.

"This looks incredible," I said, smiling up at him. "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow," he replied, a small, satisfied smile creeping onto his face. "I’ve made sure everything is set. You deserve nothing less than the best, and that’s what I’m going to give you."

I leaned into him, letting his arms wrap around me, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this honeymoon wasn’t just about luxury. It was Filip’s way of keeping me close, making sure no one else could intrude. And while I wanted to enjoy it, I also couldn’t ignore the possessiveness that was always just beneath the surface.

Still, I pushed the worries aside, focusing on the idea of escaping with Filip. Maybe this would be the break we needed. A time to reconnect without the pressures of the city, without the interruptions of his work or my past. Just us.

And yet, somewhere deep inside, I couldn’t help but wonder—would it ever be enough for Filip? Would he ever stop trying to prove that I belonged to him?
