Chapter 7: Distance and Desire

Rena's POV

In the days after the confrontation with Jason, I felt lost. Filip's revelation about being a mafia boss loomed over me like a dark cloud. I needed distance to think. As I spent more time with friends and buried myself in schoolwork, my thoughts constantly drifted back to him.

The hallways felt suffocating, filled with whispers and curious stares. I missed Filip, but I couldn't shake the doubt that gripped my heart. I had to stick to my decision. I was protecting myself from a life I wasn't sure I could handle.

Filip's POV

Every day without Rena was torture. I spent hours watching her from afar, my possessiveness intensifying with each moment. Seeing her with Jason ignited a fire in me that I struggled to control. I couldn't let him get too close.

When I finally decided to visit her, my heart raced with anticipation and fear. As I knocked on her door, I worried she would turn me away. But when she opened it, I saw surprise mixed with caution in her eyes.

"Can we talk?" I pleaded, desperation creeping into my voice.

After a moment's hesitation, she stepped back, allowing me inside. The familiar scent of her home flooded me with memories, but the air was thick with unspoken tension.

"I know you've been avoiding me," I began. "I can't let you walk away. I'm in love with you, Rena."

She softened for a moment but then steeled herself. "Filip, I-"

"Please, hear me out," I interrupted. "I know my world is complicated, but I want a chance to show you I can be different."

"Different?" she repeated, hurt evident in her voice. "You think I can just forget?"

"I don't expect you to," I said urgently. "But I want you to know that I would do anything for you. You're the most important person in my life."

Tears glistened in her eyes, but she pulled away. "I need time to think, Filip. I can't jump back into this without knowing what it means for me."

"I can't stand the thought of losing you," I confessed, my voice cracking. "You're everything I want."

The silence was heavy, and I could see her struggle. "I just need some time to think," she finally said. "I can't promise anything right now."

I nodded, heart heavy as I left. I was determined to win her back, but I couldn't shake the fear that I was pushing her further away. The line between love and possession was thin, and I needed to prove I could be the man she deserved.
