Chapter 41: A Dangerous Escape
Rena’s POV
The dawn light spilled softly across the sky as I packed the last of our belongings into the trunk of the car. Fil was still asleep in the backseat, his dark blonde hair tousled and his small face peaceful. My heart was heavy as I glanced back at the house—our home—one final time. I had to leave; there was no other choice. Filip was dangerous, and I couldn’t allow him to keep threatening our safety.
“Mommy?” Fil’s sleepy voice broke the silence.
“Hey, sweetheart,” I replied, forcing a smile. “We’re just going on a little trip.”
I slid into the driver’s seat, taking a deep breath to steady my nerves. With the engine purring to life, I pulled away, feeling both excitement and fear churn in my stomach. The road ahead promised freedom, but the familiar sights of our town felt like chains binding me to the past.
But as I drove, a sense of unease settled in. I noticed a dark van trailing behind us. My heart raced as I realized it was getting closer. “Stay calm, Rena,” I muttered to myself, gripping the wheel tightly. I pressed down on the accelerator, hoping to lose them, but the van remained steadfastly on my tail.
“Mom, what’s wrong?” Fil’s innocent question tugged at my heart.
“Nothing, honey. Just hold on tight,” I said, forcing a reassuring tone. I took a sharp turn down a side street, my pulse quickening. The van followed, closing in even faster.
Suddenly, I heard the crunch of metal as the van rammed into my back bumper, jolting us forward. Panic surged through me. “Hold on, Fil!” I shouted, trying to maintain control as I swerved.
“Mom!” Fil cried, fear evident in his voice.
I glanced back at him, my heart aching. “It’s okay, baby. Just stay down!”
But as the van slammed into us again, sending my car careening off the road, I knew I was out of options. Everything was happening too fast. I needed to protect my son.

Filip’s POV
I had watched Rena’s car leave the town, my heart pounding. She thought she could escape me, but I couldn’t let that happen. I had hired a team to ensure they wouldn’t get far. As I saw the dark van tailing her, I felt a rush of adrenaline.
I had planned this meticulously, and now I was going to reclaim what was mine. My family would be back together, one way or another.
As the van hit her car, I felt a surge of possessiveness. Rena might not understand, but I had to protect her and Fil, even if it meant using force. I would make her see that leaving was not an option.

Rena’s POV
Before I could process what was happening, the van’s door swung open, and a masked figure yanked me out of the car. “No! Let me go!” I screamed, struggling against his grip.
“Mom!” Fil’s voice echoed from the backseat, sending a fresh wave of panic through me. I had to get to him.
“Fil!” I shouted, twisting and kicking to break free. “Get away from him!”
“Get her in the van!” the masked man barked, dragging me toward the dark vehicle.
I fought harder, desperately trying to reach my son. I couldn’t let them take us! “Please! Don’t hurt him!” I cried, my voice breaking as I was shoved toward the van.

Filip’s POV
I stepped out of my car, my heart racing as I watched Rena struggle. I felt a mix of anger and urgency. I knew I had to act fast before things escalated too much. “Stop!” I commanded, my voice cutting through the chaos.
The masked figures hesitated, glancing at me. “She’s with me now,” I said firmly, striding forward.
Rena’s eyes widened as she turned to me, disbelief written all over her face. “Filip! You can’t do this!”
“Enough running, Rena. You and Fil are coming home with me,” I said, my tone leaving no room for argument. I stepped closer, my presence commanding the scene.
---
Rena’s POV
I couldn’t believe what was happening. I felt anger boil within me, mixing with fear. “You’re making a mistake!” I yelled at Filip, trying to convey my defiance.
But I was outnumbered. The masked men pulled me closer to the van, and I felt despair wash over me. I had fought so hard to escape, only to be pulled back into this nightmare. “Let him go!” I pleaded, desperation clawing at my throat.
Filip’s gaze was intense, a mix of determination and something darker. “You’re mine, Rena. I won’t let you go again,” he declared, and I felt a chill run down my spine.
---
Filip’s POV
Seeing Rena struggle only fueled my determination. I stepped closer, my voice low and serious. “You think you can just take my son and leave? Not happening. You don’t understand what you’re doing to this family.”
I climbed into the van, and the men secured Rena inside. I could see her fear and anger, but I was resolute. I needed her to understand that this was for her own good, for our family.
As the van roared to life, I knew I had to show her that I could protect her better than anyone else. I would not lose them again.
---
Rena’s POV
As I sat in the van, tied and terrified, I realized Filip’s plan had come to fruition. He wasn’t going to let me go. The weight of despair settled heavily on my chest as I glanced at Fil, who looked confused and scared.
“Mommy, are we going home?” he asked, his innocent eyes searching mine for reassurance.
“Fil, it’s going to be okay,” I lied, forcing a smile even as my heart sank. I couldn’t let him see my fear; I had to protect him.
But as the van sped away, I knew that this was only the beginning. Filip was determined, and I was trapped in a dangerous game that I couldn’t escape. I would have to find a way out—before it was too late.
