Chapter 25: Safe in His Arms
Rena's POV
The ride home felt like a blur, my mind barely able to grasp the fact that I was free. The terror of being tied up, Jason's twisted words, the cold emptiness of the abandoned building-all of it felt like a bad dream. But it wasn't a dream. It was real. I glanced over at Filip, who sat beside me, his hand tightly holding mine, his expression unreadable. He had rescued me. Once again, Filip had come for me, and I was safe.
The car pulled up to the estate, and we stepped out in silence. Filip guided me inside, his arm around my waist, not letting go. The moment we crossed the threshold, I collapsed into his arms, unable to hold back the tears anymore.
"Thank you," I whispered through the sobs, clutching him as if letting go would mean losing everything. "Thank you for saving me, Filip."
He held me tightly, his hand gently stroking my hair. "You're safe now, Rena. No one will ever take you away from me again."
His words, though meant to be reassuring, held that familiar possessive edge. But in this moment, I didn't care. I was just grateful to be alive, grateful to be back with him. I had been so close to losing everything.
Filip pulled back slightly, his dark eyes scanning my face as if he needed to confirm I was truly there. "I was so afraid I'd lost you," he said softly. "I can't... I won't let anything like this happen again."
I nodded, leaning into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his body against mine. I wanted to speak, to tell him how much it meant to me that he had risked everything to find me, but the words wouldn't come. All I could do was hold on to him, letting the relief wash over me.
As the night deepened, Filip guided me upstairs to our room. He didn't say much-there were no questions, no demands. He simply wrapped me in a blanket of safety, staying close, making sure I knew he was there.
As we settled into bed, I felt the weight of everything finally lifting. I was home. Safe. And despite the turmoil that surrounded us, despite Filip's possessiveness, I couldn't deny that I felt protected in his arms.
"I love you," I whispered, my voice soft, almost hesitant.
Filip leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead. "I love you too, Rena. More than you'll ever know."
And in that moment, despite the chaos, despite everything that had happened, I felt something stir inside me-a flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, we could find peace in each other. For now, that was enough.
