"This is the third murder linked to you, Nicky..." Morgan sighed, closing my office door. I had refused to leave the building after seeing Sarah dead in my office, in a pool of her own blood, even when Luke tried to get me to meet Kensie somewhere to go eat breakfast. I couldn't stomach the idea of even putting a small bite of food in my system, scared I'll throw it straight back up. I also knew I wouldn't be much of a joy to be around and didn't want to put Kensie through that.
"I know, Morg," I shook my head, letting it fall so I looked at the ground. My knees were pulled to my chest as I sat on the carpeted floor, staring at my door, leaning against Sarah's... oh my, out of everyone it was Sarah. "It's all my fault." I muttered into my knees before lifting my head, resting my chin on the top of them so I was looking dead straight again. "I'm a fucking death magnet." He breathed out a laugh before sitting next to me, just with his legs straight on the floor. I let my head flop to the side and rest against his uniformed shoulder, closing my eyes. "Too early for this shit,"
"You told Kensie you're safe?" I nodded against his shirt, pulling my phone out, showing the quick messages that were sent to her, stating I was at the office as an emergency had come up and I'll explain later. Although I felt like I wouldn't have to, as Luke was the other end of the corridor on the phone to someone, and I swear he kept saying Kensie.
"How many murders linked to me have I got left till I'm arrested for suspicion?" I had to ask. I was a key factor in all these murders, the factor connecting them all together.
"You won't be arrested, Nic," Morgan laughed softly, "put under protection maybe, but not arrested." The door swung open as his team slowly filed out of the room, the last few carrying a body bag.
"She's really gone." I scoffed, shaking my head. As annoying as she was, she didn't deserve this. Didn't deserve to be dragged into it.
"She is kiddo." Morgan clapped his hand on my shoulder before standing and heading to his officers and Alex, who actually came to work today. I found myself looking over at him, waiting for an ideal time to speak to him, but it never came. He was avoiding me. Slowly, I pushed my body up and walked into my office, just standing and looking around. Furniture was sectioned off, and the berry liquid had been scrubbed from the floor, only leaving pale marks. It was never fully going to go. Luke told me that moments before the police stormed the building and levelled it, leaving us in silence.
My mind couldn't rest as I just stood there with my arms crossed firmly against my chest, as everything started feeling tighter. My heart started racing as I scanned over the furniture left in the room, looking at the stray berry colour on my desk and chair.
"Fuck," I grasped at my hoodie, as my heart sank down to the floor, getting a wave of dizziness. I was panicking. My vision seemed to go tunnel as I tried to pry my eyes away, as I begged my feet and legs to work again and carry me out of the room.
"Nicky-," Luke stepped in, spotting me in my position, small puffs of air leaving my mouth as I looked up at him, feeling weak and scared. "Ok let's get out here," he didn't say much before gently moving my body so I could stand before dragging me out of the room into his office.
As soon as my feet left the threshold of my office, everything felt lighter. I could breathe. My heart slowed down. I could walk. Harshly, I shrugged Luke off me, taking a single step back.
"Why were you here?" The first question that came to mind was, "He wasn't due to come in."
"What? I work here, Nicky," he looked at me, dumbfounded, confusion clear.
"You weren't due to come in... but you did and obviously had enough time to phone everyone to not come in."
"Don't start, Nicky. I've just had an employee killed by someone," he rolled his ocean-orbs at me. "If you're going to quiz me, don't bother and go meet Kensie or some shit. I now have important stuff to sort out." And with that, he was gone, and his office door was shut. Thanks, Luke. Shut me in your office. Why don't you? I stood in his office and bounced on my feet, rocking forward and back. I was alone in Luke's office. I could snoop.
Before I even took a step, my phone pinged from my back pocket, making my hand move to grasp it.
The nosey bitch is now out of the way. Always wanting to get into our business, but well done on not telling her anything. Best leave Luke's office, darling. It isn't good to snoop.
