"I will say I am shocked he got himself arrested," Crystal chuckled, looking down at her nails before resting her elbow on the table and her head on her hand, fluttering her lashes at me. "He really is slacking recently."
"He didn't get himself arrested." I leant back in the chair, crossing my arms. "Someone framed him, which I found odd since he's never had anything close to this before... you come into the picture."
"Are you accusing me of framing him? Setting him up, Nicky?" she pouted before shaking her head. "I had nothing to do with this shit."
"Then who did?" I scoffed. "If you're at least going to lie, give me a good answer."
"You'll meet him soon enough. Shame the meeting had to be pushed back."
"Tell me, Crystal," I leant forward against the table, hissing at her through my teeth before looking around the semi-busy building, making sure not a single soul was paying attention to our conversation.
"You are rubbish at this... no wonder Luke jumped to take control over you." I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath before snapping them open again.
"Now you're watching us?"
"Oh, sweetie, everyone in Unbroken knows. Like I said, you were meant to have a meeting to meet him and have all the answers your heart desires. You pushed back the date because bozo got himself caught. Just got to keep tabs on you to make sure you don't run away." She explained, smiling over at me, tilting her head.
"Oh, please, I could leave if I wanted to."
"The only way you're leaving Nicky is through heaven or hell. By dying. The best thing is, no one's told you a thing about unbroken, really, have they? So anyone around you could be in the gang. Watching you closely." She fluttered her lashes again, hiding her eyes momentarily before revealing the harsh colour. "It is a shame, really. Your determination would have been welcomed in our gang. I bet he would have even let you lead with him. There would be none of this bullshit competition that's happening between you and Luke. You have the drive and power but lack the skill to run, to own, and command people." She explained, taking a sip of her lemon water and placing the cold glass back down on the table.
"You're acting as if this is a plan."
"Would be quite a crap plan of Michael getting himself caught, by your uncle, no less. Out of everything now, that was funny. And your brother? He's been busy with your mom recently, hasn't he, fixing the issues you caused." I hated how much she knew about my life that even Kensie didn't really know.
"Shut the fuck up, Crystal."
"Because I'm right," she chuckled, pressing her lips together. "I'm not wrong, Nicky. You need to be able to not take shit from people and show that."
"I don't take shit from people."
"Dave." I froze, hearing the name that I had pushed to the back of my mind. Watching as Crystal's expression turned to one of victory, "left your mind, did he? He was such a shame. I did like him. He was such a good boss and knew what he was doing." She fake frowned, taking another sip of her drink and sighing. "Now, why was he killed again?" She tapped her chin, thinking and looking off in the distance.
"I-," my mind ran blank as I couldn't remember. I couldn't remember if anyone had told me.
"And your dad, now he was a good guy. That was a shame."
