"Well, well, well, if it isn't the person who thinks she can sneak out." My hand halted above James's lips as a new voice cut through the quiet air. Morgan and the team, including Alex, had left, leaving me alone as I 'had to take more photos.'
"Michael, I-," I turned and faced his figure as he leant against the wall, looking down at his hands before shoving them deep in his pockets.
"You think you're bigger and better than me, Nicky? Then the rest of the gang," his voice was dark as it sent shivers down my spine.
"No, I-,"
"Don't believe I said speak. You know you're lucky I like you, or you would be killed and would join James's body there." The way his voice didn't waver let me know he was speaking the truth. I let my hand fall against my knee as I knelt there, not knowing what to do. I was caught; I had ruined everything. "Now, if you know what's good for you, you would get your ass in the car." As soon as the words hit my ears, my feet kicked into gear, picking my phone up off the concrete and speed walking to the blacked-out car on the side of the road.
I hadn't realised Michael was close behind me until his head shot out as the slam of the front door shut as I opened it, making me gulp nervously.
"In the back, darling."
"What! I'm not a child, Michael!" I felt my body physically recoil at that, no one else was in the front; there was no reason for me to be banished to the back.
"You act like one, sneaking out." He took a deep breath, closing his eyes and clenching his fists. "So get in the car, Nicky," he spoke through gritted teeth, making me sigh and climb into the back, crossing my arms as he shut the door behind me. Within seconds, he was in the front driver's seat, starting the car and making it roar to life. "Child locks also on, so don't even try and leave."
"I'm not going to leave a moving car, Michael." I snapped, making him chuckle.
"You'll wish you could."
"Nicky, thank god you're okay!" Kensie's arms wrapped tightly around my waist as soon as I stepped foot in my apartment (Michael close behind, obviously). "I thought heartthrob had killed you."
"They would never," I spoke, wrapping my arms equally as tight around her, breathing slowly.
"You don't know that; you killed James. Are you okay?" If I'm being honest, I didn't know. The thought that I had taken a life hadn't soaked into my mind yet, as it's been running haywire with everything else. I haven't had my time, time to be with my thoughts and alone. I didn't know if I was okay.
"I don't know..." I couldn't lie to Kensie, not when she was looking at me with sad eyes. "I guess it hasn't settled in yet." I simply shrugged, letting her go and sighing again, catching Michael's eye.
"Well, I'm here for you, if you know..."
"If my mind goes mental." I always knew she would be there whenever I needed her. If it's a shoulder to cry on or someone to rant to, I could always count on Kensie to just let me, let me rant and talk without any doubt, just so I get it out in the world and not bottled up. "I don't think you can do anything about this, though, Kens," she glanced behind me at Michael before nodding.
"Michael-,"
"Get out of here, Kensie." His voice was still the harsh tone, making me turn and face him, annoyed that he was speaking to Kensie like that.
