It was safe to say Lizzie was about to obliterate all skulk from existence. She swung the diamond blade up, down, around and back.

Scar was physically struggling to stand back up whenever he got knocked down. It was refreshing to fight like this again, especially now that she had so much held-up rage.

It was just getting to the better part of the fight when Scar's eyes suddenly flickered from normal back to skulk-black and he collapsed.

"Scar? SCAR!" Lizzie dropped the sword and rushed to his side, shaking him awake and ripping skulk from him.

Scar jolted awake, looking traumatised. He looked down at his hands in a silent moment of relief before struggling to sit up a little.

"L...Lizzie?"

Lizzie sighed happily, a small laugh escaping her lips as she pulled Scar into a tight hug.

"Scar, it's not safe here, we have to go." She mumbled, trying to pull back, but Scar had a firm grip on her.

"...Scar?"

Scar's expression was blank as his eyes began to shift and flicker and change back to skulky-black.

Uh oh.

Lizzie felt claws dig into her back and she wrenched herself away from his cold grip, her cry of pain echoing around the woods.

"LIZZIE!" Joel came around the corner through the woods, armed with a sword and all the others from the group of friends. Grian screeched with fury, leaping at Scar with such force they both tumbled around on the ground. The others joined in the battle, except for Joel, who stayed with Lizzie to make sure she was alright.

"Are you okay?! You look hurt..." Joel's words became a gentle hum against the sounds of fire, battle, and a soft ringing in Lizzie's ears. The moment was short, but right now, being held in loving hands by someone she had feelings for, it was all she could ask for.

Lizzie leaned up and placed her hands on either side of Joel's face. She brought him closer to her and gave him a kiss on the lips as the forest burned around them.

Ren couldn't look away from where he'd just seen his best friend fall to his doom. The two seconds of it happening replayed over and over in his head, and slowly but surely his fear turned into fury. Unmatched rage burned throughout his veins, and he began a low growl.

"Aww, baby doggy's gettin' fussy." Cub drawled, his head tilting slowly to the side.

The edged of Ren's vision turned red and he leapt at the corrupted student, forcing him to the ground. He roared, tears blurring his vision as he ripped at the skulk ruthlessly. Cub shrieked and shoved him away, dragging himself to his feet with gasps of air.

"You do realize the only way to stop me is getting past my defences, right? But the only way to get past those..." A sly smile slowly grew on his face, "...is murder."

Ren stood and let out a low snarl, claws flexing as he prepared to fight. Cub began to pace around him in a circle, appearing out of the ground and vanishing whenever Ren tried to strike him.
