The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery light over the two-story house that Alex and Steve shared. It was a quiet night, the kind that often followed long days of mining and adventuring. The first floor of the house held everything they needed—crafting tables, furnaces, chests, and a small kitchen. The second floor was for storage and the bedrooms, with Alex's room having its own separate bathroom, a luxury she didn't go without.
Steve had already retreated to his room, exhausted from their latest expedition, but something in the air felt off to him. It was a feeling he couldn't quite shake, the sensation of being watched, of something lurking just beyond the edge of his vision. He stood by his window, scanning the dark forest beyond their home for any signs of movement. That was when he saw it—a pair of glowing white eyes, faint but unmistakable.
"Herobrine..." Steve muttered to himself, his pulse quickening.
He had seen those eyes before, or at least he thought he had. Every time he tried to get a closer look, the figure would vanish, leaving only a lingering sense of dread. Herobrine was real, Steve was sure of it, even though Alex always told him it was just his imagination.
Steve stepped back from the window, deciding not to pursue whatever it was he thought he saw. The last thing he wanted was to run into Herobrine at night, especially when he was alone. So, with a weary sigh, he climbed into bed, pulling the covers over himself. Still, he couldn't quite shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
Meanwhile, Alex sat in her room, waiting. She had already changed into her nightclothes, brushing her fiery red hair out as she prepared for bed. Her room was simple but cozy, the two beds pushed together to form a large, comfortable space. She glanced toward the window, her heart skipping a beat as she heard a faint creak from the stairs.
Moments later, Y/n—known to Steve and everyone else as Herobrine—entered the room. His tall, muscular frame filled the doorway, and his glowing white eyes softened as they landed on Alex. She smiled, a warmth spreading through her as he stepped inside, closing the door gently behind him.
"There you are," Alex whispered, her voice low so as not to wake Steve in the next room. "I was starting to think you wouldn't come."
Y/n's lips curled into a soft smile as he approached her. "I told you I'd be here," he replied, his deep voice soothing.
As Y/n moved closer, Alex stood to greet him, wrapping her arms around his waist. His body was solid and warm, his presence comforting after a long day. She loved the way he made her feel, secure and protected, even when the world outside was filled with dangers.
"You didn't scare Steve again, did you?" she asked, glancing toward the door.
Y/n chuckled, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Maybe a little," he admitted, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Alex rolled her eyes but smiled. "He's going to lose it one of these days if you keep this up."
Y/n shrugged, his strong arms encircling her as he pulled her closer. "It's harmless fun. Besides, it keeps him alert."
They stood there for a moment, holding each other in the quiet of the room. To anyone else, Y/n was Herobrine, a figure of fear and mystery, but to Alex, he was something far more—her partner, the one who returned to her every night. She pressed her cheek against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.
After a moment, Y/n led her toward the bed, slipping under the covers beside her. Alex nestled against him, feeling his arm wrap securely around her as they lay together. The soft glow of the moon outside bathed the room in a peaceful light, and for Alex, the world outside their house didn't matter.
Steve, still restless in his own room, had no idea that the one he feared was just a few feet away, lying peacefully beside Alex.
As Alex drifted off to sleep, Y/n's glowing eyes dimmed, his protective gaze never leaving her. To Steve, Herobrine would always be a lurking shadow, but here, in Alex's room, Y/n was something entirely different. He was hers, and she was his, a secret they shared in the quiet moments of the night.
