The midday sun streamed through the grand windows of the castle, casting warm golden light upon the polished marble floors. The scent of salt and blooming flowers drifted in from the open balcony, where a gentle breeze carried the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore. Inside the grand hall, a quiet moment was unfolding.

Vanessa—once Ursula, but no longer the sea witch—stood by the window, gazing out at the sea. From her vantage point, she could see the royal ship bobbing gently on the waves, where Ariel and Eric stood, cradling their newborn daughter, Melody. The sight should have stirred something in her, perhaps bitterness or envy, but she felt none. Instead, her arms tightened around the small bundle she held close to her chest—a baby girl with soft, raven curls and bright ocean-blue eyes that sparkled with curiosity.

"Nerissa," Vanessa murmured, smiling down at her daughter as the infant let out a soft giggle. The name suited her perfectly—a child of the sea, a symbol of the life Vanessa had chosen.

A shadow loomed over her, and she turned slightly to see Y/n standing beside her. The elder brother of Prince Eric, Y/n bore a strong resemblance to him, though he was taller, more broad-shouldered, his features sharper with maturity. As the heir to the kingdom, he carried himself with a quiet strength, his presence commanding yet comforting. Unlike Eric's youthful enthusiasm, Y/n exuded wisdom and patience, traits befitting a future king.

"You're watching them," Y/n observed, his deep voice steady as he stepped closer.

Vanessa exhaled, shifting Nerissa in her arms. "It's strange," she admitted. "Once, I would have resented them. Envied what they had." She looked up at Y/n, her violet eyes softening. "But now, I have this. I have you. And her."

Y/n reached out, brushing a strand of dark hair from her face before resting his hand on Nerissa's tiny back. The baby cooed, grabbing at his fingers with her small hands. A rare smile graced Y/n's lips as he leaned down, pressing a kiss to his daughter's forehead.

"You have more than that," he said, his voice low but filled with conviction. "You have a home. A family. A future."

Vanessa's breath hitched slightly at his words. The weight of her past was still there, lingering in the corners of her mind, but it no longer defined her. She had spent years chasing power, believing it to be the only way to secure her place in the world. Now, she stood beside the man she loved, holding their daughter, knowing she had already found what she had always been searching for.

From the window, the distant cheers of the crowd reached them as Triton raised his trident, blessing Melody with the magic of the sea. Vanessa watched as the light shimmered around the child, marking her as part of both worlds.

For a moment, doubt flickered in Vanessa's heart. Would the past ever truly let her go? Would the ocean ever forgive what she once was?

Y/n seemed to sense her unease. His arm wrapped around her shoulders, grounding her. "Whatever comes next," he murmured, "we'll face it together."

Vanessa looked up at him, at the man who had chosen her not because of magic or trickery, but because he truly saw her. And for the first time in her life, she believed in the promise of tomorrow.

She held Nerissa close, whispering softly, "We already have everything we need."

The midday sun shone brightly, illuminating the castle halls as the sea breeze carried the scent of salt and roses. And for the first time, Vanessa was content, standing beside the man she loved, their child in her arms, as they looked toward a future built on love instead of power.
