— I used to be just like him
letting the evil win
but now I want him safe
I do everything for him to be well —
A knock on the door came first. Then it was Big's voice, and after that, Pearl's.
"Come on, Pearl! Don't bother the captain yet."
"Yet?! It has been two days!"
Chay turned around in Kim's arms and buried his head into the bedsheets, trying to hide his laugh, "we've been hidden here for two days?"
"Hmm, maybe," Kim lazily mumbled, pressing a kiss on Chay's naked shoulder.
"P'Kim said that we can spend time together," Pearl's voice came through the door again, sounding more and more disappointed.
"Get your ass up and go spend some quality time with your son just like you have promised," Chay said and started pushing Kim away from the bed.
"All right, all right," Kim groaned, quickly kissed Chay, and shuffled out of bed. "I wonder what my mother will say when she finds out she has a grandson."
Chay rolled over to his back, put one arm around his head, and enjoyed the godly view of Kim's naked body while his partner walked around the cabin trying to find all the clothes he needed to put on.
"I'm pretty sure that the first thing she is going to focus on is having her son back and being free. But once that settles down, I'm sure she'll be happy. I don't think she'll be happy to know the circumstances under which Pearl ended up with us, but that's something no one can change."
Kim pulled a shirt through his head and nodded, "it was awful, but you know what I keep thinking about?"
"What?"
"That Pearl is much stronger than I ever was," Kim sat down on the edge of the bed, head ducked down.
Chay sat up and moved across the bed towards Kim, hugging him from behind. "Why do you think that?"
"His mother is dead. Mine isn't. And yet I lost it completely and became who I am right now. Pearl... he is way calmer than I was. I'm sure he misses his mother, and it must hurt him a lot, but he just... he seems way more balanced, I guess. He won't do anything stupid, you know what I mean?" Kim glanced at Chay.
"Well," Chay hummed, "we don't know what he wants to ask you to do, remember? You promised him to do whatever he wants."
"Chay, it's not the same," Kim sighed.
Chay softly smiled, "I know, love. But there's not one stronger than the other. You both are incredibly strong, and I love you both the most. Smile for me, hmm?"
