The noise was so loud it penetrated their ears and made Kim cringe. He never really liked the sound of a cannon. Maybe because it always meant danger, attack, death... but this time...
"Wohouuu..."
"That was so cool! Damn!"
Chay and Pearl started clapping and jumping up and down like little kids, excited sparks were flickering in their eyes. Well... Pearl was a kid, but Chay...
Kim couldn't help but smile, shaking his head at them. Seeing someone being so innocently excited over a cannon... It was such a rare sight. It almost felt out of place, like it was supposed to be in a different dimension or a different century. Who would have thought that such a small and random thing could make the two most important boys in his life so happy?
"Can we do it again?" Pearl turned to Kim, asking with hopeful eyes.
Kim wanted to say no. One was more than enough. Yes, they were in the middle of the ocean, but that didn't mean there wasn't a ship somewhere close enough that they could hear it. And the cannon was loud enough that the ship didn't even have to be that close to them to hear it, and Kim really didn't want to risk that ship being someone with ulterior motifs. Attack on the Sea Ghost was the last thing he needed right now.
But then Chay stepped closer to him, touched his hand, looked at him with his gorgeous chocolate eyes, and said, "just one more time, please, captain."
Kim just sighed, crumbling down immediately, "all right, one more time. But only one!"
"Thank you," Chay beamed and gave Kim a quick kiss. "You are the best and I love you so much!"
"So much excitement because of the cannon," Kim chuckled, looking at Big standing by his right side. "Have you ever seen such a thing, matey?"
"Never, captain," Big shook his head.
"You two just don't understand!" Chay said and went back to Pearl and the cannon..
Kim ordered Big to stay with Chay and Pearl at the cannon while he went back to the ship's wheel. They weren't that far from the Bay of Sorrows at this point. They should arrive sometime after sunset. Kim frowned. It was never a good idea to arrive at the Bay of Sorrows with nightfall. However, knowing what he knew now about the Oracle, maybe that place wasn't that dangerous for them after all. And he couldn't lie, he was incredibly curious about what the Oracle had to say to them. There were a lot of things she had to explain. Kim was starting to wonder if there was ever any curse or if it all was just because the Oracle wanted it that way. And why did she want it that way, to begin with?
