Later that evening, I meet up with Leo at our usual spot-a quiet park where we've shared so many conversations about life, music, and everything in between. As soon as I tell him about the offer, he raises an eyebrow.
"Wow, that's huge," he says, leaning back on the bench. "So, what's holding you back?"
I take a deep breath, trying to put my feelings into words. "It's a dream come true, but... I'm not sure if I'm ready to lose the independence I've worked so hard for. What if I sign and they want to change everything about my music?"
Leo nods, listening carefully. "That's a valid concern. The industry can be tough, and signing with a label means you'll have to make some compromises. But it could also open doors you wouldn't get on your own."
"I know," I say, sighing. "I just don't want to lose myself in the process."
Leo smiles, his expression thoughtful. "Then don't. If you decide to do this, go in knowing what you're willing to compromise on and what you aren't. It's your career, Lila. You get to set the boundaries."
His words resonate with me. It's not about whether or not I take the deal-it's about making sure I stay true to myself, no matter what path I choose.
"Thanks, Leo," I say, feeling a little lighter. "You always know what to say."
"Hey, that's what big brothers are for," he replies with a grin
