A few days after finishing my new song, I receive a call from a major record label. It's the kind of call I used to dream about-a chance to work with some of the biggest names in the industry, to take my music to the next level.
"We love your work, Lila," the voice on the other end says. "We think you have the potential to be a star, and we'd like to offer you a contract."
For a moment, I'm speechless. This is it-the moment I've been working toward for so long. But instead of the rush of excitement I expected, there's a small, quiet voice inside me, asking if this is really what I want.
"I appreciate the offer," I say carefully, "but I need some time to think about it."
"Of course," the rep replies, sounding a little surprised. "Take all the time you need, but we're eager to get started."
After I hang up, I sit in silence, staring at my phone. It's everything I thought I wanted, but something feels off. I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up the creative control I've fought so hard for. And more than that, I wonder if taking this step will mean losing the freedom I've come to cherish in my music.
I decide to talk it over with Leo. He's always been the one who knows how to help me sort through the chaos in my mind.
