That weekend, Mia and I meet at our favorite café. It feels like old times, just the two of us, laughing and talking about everything. She fills me in on her life-her plans, her latest crush, and the silly things that have been happening at her job.
As we talk, I realize how much I've missed this. Mia has always been there for me, even when I've been too busy to notice.
"You've been through a lot lately," she says, her tone serious for the first time that day. "But you don't have to carry it all by yourself."
"I know," I say, my voice softer than usual. "It's just hard to let go sometimes. I feel like I have to prove something-to myself, to everyone."
"You've already proven you're amazing, Lila. Now you just need to let yourself enjoy it."
Her words hit me hard. She's right-I've been so focused on pushing forward that I've forgotten to enjoy the ride. I smile at her, feeling a weight lift from my shoulders.
"Thanks, Mia. I needed this."
She grins. "Anytime."
As I walk home that night, I feel lighter. For the first time in a while, I let myself relax, knowing that I'm not alone. I have people who love me, and that's enough.
