As Lila grows more confident in her voice, she notices subtle shifts within herself. With her best friend’s encouragement, she speaks up more often, expressing opinions and thoughts she once buried. In small social settings, like at school or community events, she begins to surprise even herself with how comfortable she feels sharing her thoughts. Around her family, however, she’s still hesitant, mindful of their reactions and the judgment they pass on anything that seems “different” or “unnecessary.” Her best friend remains her greatest ally, giving her courage and the confidence she lacks. They share long conversations, often into the late hours, and in his presence, she feels like she’s finally seen and heard.
But despite the support from her friend, a part of her still yearns for the acceptance and love of her family. She clings to a faint hope that if she pushes herself hard enough, perhaps they’ll recognize her worth. To this end, she throws herself into her studies and household duties with renewed vigor, balancing both with a meticulous focus. As exhausted as she often feels, the thought of making her family proud is the one dream she struggles to let go of.
