The next morning, I wake up feeling lighter, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I decide to take Leo's advice and give myself permission to slow down, at least for a little while. I turn down a couple of minor events and spend more time at home, focusing on writing new songs and reconnecting with the things that make me happy.
One afternoon, as I'm working on a new melody, my phone buzzes. It's Clara, Leo's girlfriend.
"Hey, Lila! I was wondering if you wanted to grab coffee sometime? I'd love to get to know you better."
I'm surprised by the invitation but touched by the gesture. Clara and I haven't spent much time together, but I know how important she is to Leo, and I want to build a positive relationship with her.
"Sure, that sounds great," I reply, setting up a time to meet.
When we meet at the café a few days later, I'm nervous at first, unsure of what to expect. But Clara is warm and easy to talk to, and soon we're chatting like old friends.
"I've heard so much about you from Leo," she says, smiling. "He thinks the world of you, you know."
I laugh softly. "Yeah, well, he's been my rock for a long time. I'm really happy you two found each other."
Clara's eyes soften. "Thank you, Lila. That means a lot to me."
As we continue talking, I realize that Leo's relationship with Clara doesn't change our friendship-it just adds another layer to it. She's a wonderful person, and I'm glad to have her in my life as well.
