Months pass, and as I immerse myself in the world of music, I find strength in my growing friendship with Leo. He continues to be my anchor, and I confide in him more, revealing the depths of my struggles and dreams. With each conversation, my trust in him blossoms, and I start to feel like I can truly be myself.
One evening, after a successful open mic night where I finally took the plunge to perform, I'm riding high on adrenaline. Leo meets me backstage, a proud smile lighting up his face.
"You were amazing!" he exclaims, pulling me into a hug. "I knew you had it in you!"
"Thanks! I can't believe I finally did it," I say, my heart racing with exhilaration.
As we walk home, the streets illuminated by streetlights, Leo's demeanor shifts slightly. "Hey, can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure, what's up?" I ask, curious.
"I met someone," he says, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"Really? That's great!" I reply, my heart swelling with happiness for him.
"It's still new, but I really like her. Her name is Mia," he explains, a shy smile creeping onto his face.
"Mia?" I echo, a little surprised. "Like, Mia from the group?"
"Yeah, we started talking after one of our practices. She's really amazing," he says, his eyes shining. "I think it could be something serious."
As he shares more about his feelings, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions. I'm happy for him, but a small part of me wonders how this will change our friendship. "You should definitely go for it, Leo. You deserve to be happy," I say, trying to push aside my insecurities.
"Thanks, Lila. It means a lot to have your support," he replies, his smile warm.
As time passes, I watch as Leo and Mia grow closer, their relationship blossoming into something beautiful. They laugh and joke, and I can't help but feel like I'm witnessing a new chapter in both their lives.
Though I sometimes feel a pang of longing for the bond we share, I remind myself that this is what I've always wanted for him. He's found someone who makes him happy, and in a way, that happiness brings me joy too.
One evening, as we gather for practice, Leo pulls me aside. "I wanted to tell you something," he says, a serious note in his voice.
"What is it?" I ask, curiosity piquing.
"I've been thinking about asking Mia to be my girlfriend," he admits, a hopeful glint in his eyes.
My heart swells with happiness for him. "I think that's a wonderful idea. You two are great together!"
"Thanks, Lila. I just wanted you to know because you're important to me," he says, sincerity etched in his expression.
As I watch him navigate this new territory, I realize that no matter what happens, our friendship will always hold a special place in my heart. Leo may find love, but he will always be my older brother figure, the one who helped me find my voice when I needed it the most.
