You painful season might not have been what you wanted, but it had been what you needed. Physically, pain is our body's way of telling us that something was wrong. We have to be made aware that action is needed to prevent further damage.

In our lives, we experience many heart-breaking situations. Loss of a loved one, betrayal, failures, disappointment, and the list goes on. No one feels comfort and ease while going through these difficult times. However, as much as we hate it, most of the time, that pain was necessary. Because of it, we become aware that something is not as it should be. To relieve the discomfort, we learn to let go, to move, to make changes, to accept, to forgive-we grow. We understand that things won't always go the way we wanted and that we cannot rule other people's minds and actions. Pain teaches us to take a step we would rather not take in comfort.

Pain, however, is just a signal. Our response to it defines whether we move forward or not. We may not always understand why it had to hurt, but we can always trust the One who knows all of our deepest longing and aching of the heart.
