There is always hope in ‘puhon.’
i didn’t know how powerful the word ‘puhon’ is, until i heard it from my little sister. she was talking about swimming by the river ‘puhon.’ i had no idea that ‘puhon’ is that hopeful. i was assured by a little kid and it truly humbled me.
The moment my little sister said the word, i came to recall all of the puhons i have heard from the people around me, ‘mamaayo ra ang tanan puhon,’ ‘makalingkawas ra ta ani puhon,’ ‘puhon ug itugot sa Ginoo,’ ‘basin diay puhon.’
Puhon is such a positive word. it holds a hefty amount of hope and optimism. but puhon is not a promise; it is an assurance. puhon tells us that things may not happen now, but it may someday. say, on a bright sunny day, a gloomy dusk, or a dark rainy dawn. whenever, whichever, however—unsure of when and how exactly, but things will certainly surface... puhon.
