Two days later...

The cafeteria was buzzing, filled with students laughing and talking, but the atmosphere at Yoongi’s table was anything but light. It had been two days since that tense confrontation between Yoongi and Hoseok, and things hadn’t improved. Hoseok kept his distance, avoiding Yoongi’s gaze at all costs, unwilling to stir up more trouble. He had grown close to Jungkook and found the others, like Namjoon, Jin, Jimin, and Taehyung, surprisingly easy to talk to. Yet, every moment felt shadowed by the coldness Yoongi threw his way, the pointed glares, the unrelenting insults, and the suffocating tension that made Hoseok wish he hadn’t entered their lives at all.

The others had noticed too and had tried to intervene, urging Yoongi to soften up, but he was firm. If anything, the closeness between Hoseok and the others only seemed to rile Yoongi more, as if each friendship Hoseok forged was a personal attack. And Hoseok felt guilty—he hated feeling like he was the wedge driving Yoongi and his friends apart. Today, they all sat together in the cafeteria again, and the weight of unspoken words pressed down on the table.

Taking a deep breath, Hoseok broke the silence. “Guys, I’m really sorry for all the fights lately. I… I don’t want to cause any more issues. I feel like maybe I’m the problem, and maybe it’s best if I… don’t become friends with you anymore.” His voice trembled, his gaze dropping as he finished, almost scared of seeing their reactions.

Jungkook gasped, eyes widening as he stared at Hoseok. Without thinking, he grabbed Hoseok in a tight hug, his voice thick with emotion. “No, Hobi! Don’t say that. You’re a good friend and a good person.” His eyes glistened, and he hugged Hoseok even tighter, his voice breaking. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Yoongi is just… just being an asshole.”

Yoongi, sitting across the table, narrowed his eyes, his voice dangerously low. “What did you just say?”

“Guys… that’s enough,” Hoseok murmured, his voice shaking as he tried to keep the peace. He didn’t want another fight, especially not because of him.

But Jungkook wasn’t backing down. He wiped away a stray tear, facing Yoongi with barely contained anger. “It’s true. Yoongi, you have too much pride. You need to grow up and stop treating Hoseok like he’s nothing.”

Yoongi’s anger flared, and before he could stop himself, he reached out, ready to land a punch straight at Jungkook’s face. But Hoseok, noticing his intent, moved swiftly, throwing himself in the way just as Yoongi’s fist struck. Pain exploded through Hoseok’s face, and he whimpered, clutching his eye as a gasp of pain escaped him.

The cafeteria fell silent. Taehyung shouted, “Yoongi!” as he pushed him back and hurried to Jungkook and Hoseok, who was cradling his face, the hurt evident in his eyes. Jin stood, his face twisted with fury as he turned on Yoongi, grabbing him by the arm and forcing him to face him.

“Were you really about to punch my boyfriend, Yoongi?” Jin’s voice was cold, every word laced with contempt.

Yoongi gulped, shaken by Jin’s fury. Jin rarely got angry, but when he did, it was terrifying. “I…” he stammered.

“Answer me!” Jin’s voice rose, his hands tightening on Yoongi’s arms as Jimin moved behind him, wrapping his arms around Jin and whispering softly, “Calm down, Jin.”

Hoseok pulled himself to his feet, eyes filled with tears. He looked around at them all, his heart heavy. Bowing slightly, he whispered, “I’m sorry for all of this.” And before anyone could stop him, he turned and ran out of the cafeteria.

“Hoseok, wait!” Jungkook called, but Hoseok didn’t look back. He needed to be alone.

Namjoon turned to Yoongi, his eyes dark with disappointment as he shoved Yoongi’s shoulder. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

Yoongi’s voice erupted, raw with frustration. “That poor dog is trying to steal all of you from me! You all just fall for his ‘nice guy’ act—”

Jungkook stormed up to Yoongi, fists clenched. “Screw you, Yoongi! Don’t you dare call him a ‘dog’ or ‘poor’ ever again. Hoseok is ten times the person you’ll ever be.” He shook his head, face twisted with disgust. “You’re just a rich, rude jerk who doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He earned that class captain position fair and square. It’s just a title, Yoongi, stop acting like a spoiled child and grow up.”

Yoongi scoffed, shooting Jungkook a look of cold disdain, and without another word, he turned and stormed out of the cafeteria, unwilling to listen to any more.
