Hoseok barely slept that night, his thoughts filled with the upcoming project session with Yoongi. His cheeks still burned from the memory of Yoongi’s surprise peck, and he couldn’t shake the excitement — and nervousness — bubbling within him.
The next evening arrived, and Hoseok’s dorm room was meticulously tidy, his books and notes laid out on the small desk. He’d even lit a subtle candle to make the atmosphere calm and comfortable. At precisely 7:00 p.m., a knock came at the door, and Hoseok’s heart leapt. He opened it to find Yoongi leaning against the doorframe, holding his notebook and laptop, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Hey,” Yoongi greeted, giving him a relaxed smile. “Room 304, just like you said.”
Hoseok swallowed and moved aside. “Yeah, come in.”
Yoongi sauntered in, taking a seat on the bed instead of at the desk, and patted the spot beside him. “Mind if we work here? It’s more comfortable.”
Hoseok hesitated but then sat down next to him, feeling the closeness between them. “Sure,” he mumbled, quickly opening his notebook to avoid showing his flushed face.
They began discussing the project, bouncing ideas back and forth. Hoseok felt at ease as they talked, though every now and then, Yoongi would brush his arm or shift closer, and Hoseok would feel his heart race all over again.
“So, how come you’re not dating anyone?” Yoongi asked out of the blue, his voice casual, though his gaze was anything but.
Hoseok looked up, caught off guard. “Oh, um… I guess I just haven’t found the right person.”
Yoongi leaned in slightly, their faces close. “Maybe the right person’s closer than you think.”
Hoseok’s breath hitched. Yoongi’s words hung between them, charged with an unspoken tension that made the room feel smaller, more intimate. Hoseok found himself unable to look away from Yoongi’s gaze, which held a depth he hadn’t seen before.
“Yoongi…” Hoseok started, but the words caught in his throat. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to say, only that he didn’t want this moment to end.
Yoongi tilted his head, studying Hoseok’s expression. “What?”
Hoseok opened his mouth to speak, but his voice was barely a whisper. “I think… maybe you’re right.”
A soft, knowing smile spread across Yoongi’s face. “Glad to hear it.”
Then, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, Yoongi reached out, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind Hoseok’s ear, his fingers lingering for just a moment longer than necessary. Hoseok’s heart pounded as Yoongi’s hand dropped, the warmth of his touch leaving a tingling sensation behind.
“Should we… get back to the project?” Hoseok managed, hoping his voice didn’t betray just how flustered he was.
Yoongi chuckled softly. “Sure, but only if you promise me something.”
“What’s that?”
“After we finish… we go out for some ramen. Just you and me.”
Hoseok’s face broke into a shy smile. “Deal.”
They resumed their work, but Hoseok knew something between them had shifted — something deeper, more real. And he couldn’t wait to see where it led.
