Hoseok stepped outside the cafeteria, his chest tight with nerves as he looked around the hallway, hoping to find Yoongi. He’d felt the weight of Yoongi’s anger back there and knew he couldn’t leave things unresolved. Spotting Yoongi leaning against a tree at the edge of the courtyard, arms crossed and eyes dark, Hoseok hesitated, but after taking a deep breath, he forced himself to approach.

“Yoongi?” Hoseok called softly, his voice almost a whisper as he drew closer.

Yoongi’s eyes flicked up, his gaze sharp and icy. “What?” he snapped, voice laced with irritation. He didn’t shift from his position, his intense gaze pinned on Hoseok, as if daring him to say something worthwhile.

Hoseok felt the sting of Yoongi’s contempt but pressed on, swallowing the lump in his throat. “I… I wanted to talk about the class captain position. I didn’t mean—”

“You didn’t mean what?” Yoongi interrupted, his tone mocking. He straightened, taking a step forward, his eyes narrowing. “Didn’t mean to waltz in here, out of nowhere, and take something that doesn’t belong to you? Because it sure seems like that’s exactly what you did.”

Hoseok’s face fell, and he stammered slightly, feeling the tension build with every harsh word. “I… I studied hard. I just wanted to do my best. I didn’t know about the ranking until today. I never meant to—”

“Oh, so now you’re pretending you’re just some innocent kid, oblivious to the fact that you’re taking my spot?” Yoongi scoffed, the disdain clear in his voice as he took another step closer, crowding Hoseok. “Stop acting like a clueless little wallflower. This isn’t a place for people like you.”

Hoseok felt his cheeks flush, the sting of Yoongi’s words cutting deeper than he expected. “I didn’t know it would upset you like this… I wanted to make friends here, not enemies,” he said, his voice wavering as he looked down, feeling small under Yoongi’s cold stare.

Yoongi rolled his eyes, unrelenting. “Friends?” he sneered. “Do you really think you can just take what’s mine and expect me to welcome you with open arms?”

Hoseok’s voice cracked as he replied, “I don’t want to take anything from you, Yoongi. I just… I wanted to prove myself.”

“Prove yourself?” Yoongi said, his voice low and dangerous. “You don’t belong here, Hoseok. And no matter how hard you try, you never will.”

Hoseok’s eyes began to sting with tears, but he blinked them back, trying to hold his ground despite the overwhelming hurt. “Why… why do you hate me so much? I’ve done nothing to you!”

Yoongi let out a bitter laugh. “You took something that was mine. Isn’t that reason enough?”

Suddenly, Yoongi’s hand shot out, grabbing a fistful of Hoseok’s hair, tugging his head back so their eyes met at an uncomfortable angle. Hoseok’s heart pounded, a mix of fear and pain rising in his chest as he looked up at Yoongi, his tears threatening to spill over.

Yoongi’s voice dropped to a cold, menacing whisper. “Let me make this clear, Hoseok. I don’t want you anywhere near me. You stay out of my way, or this will only get worse for you. Got it?”

Hoseok’s breath hitched, a tear slipping down his cheek as he nodded slightly, unable to break away from Yoongi’s intense gaze. His voice barely a whisper, he managed, “I understand…”

Yoongi released his grip on Hoseok’s hair, shoving him back. Hoseok stumbled, his hand instinctively reaching up to where Yoongi had grabbed him, feeling the lingering sting.

“Good,” Yoongi said, straightening his posture, his expression hardened. “Remember, you’re nothing here. Don’t forget it.”

Hoseok, feeling the burn of humiliation and hurt, turned and walked away, his shoulders shaking as he tried to hold back the sobs. He’d wanted to make amends, but instead, he’d only found himself sinking deeper into Yoongi’s anger and disdain.
