Hoseok sat quietly in the library, the usual hum of silence wrapping around him as he focused on his textbook. He flipped through the pages, reviewing for the upcoming exams, when he suddenly heard footsteps approaching. Reluctantly, he looked up, only for his eyes to widen in fear as he met Yoongi’s gaze.

Yoongi’s presence was intimidating, a reminder of the bruise still lingering around Hoseok’s left eye. Though the swelling had subsided, the dark discoloration was a stark reminder of Yoongi’s fist.

Hoseok hastily stood up, intent on avoiding him, but Yoongi was quicker. In an instant, Yoongi grabbed his wrist, pulling him forward with a firm grip. Hoseok gasped as he stumbled, awkwardly crashing against Yoongi’s chest, the textbook slipping from his fingers to the floor.

Yoongi’s face softened as he looked down at him, an apologetic look flickering across his features. Hoseok blinked, furrowing his brows, unsure of what to make of the expression on Yoongi’s face. His heart raced as Yoongi lifted a hand to cup his cheek, his thumb brushing softly against the bruised eye.

Hoseok flinched at the touch, instinctively pulling back, but Yoongi shushed him gently. “Shh, it’s okay,” he murmured, his voice unusually soft. Then, with a sigh, Yoongi withdrew his hand. “Look… I’m sorry, Hoseok. I’m sorry for everything that’s happened between us… all because of that stupid class captain title.”

Hoseok’s eyes widened, his disbelief clear as he stared at Yoongi. An apology? Yoongi was apologizing? The boy who had seemed to take so much pride in making him miserable was actually reflecting on his actions?

“About the black eye…” Yoongi continued, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. “I realize now… Jungkook was right. I was acting like a kid, and I shouldn’t have let a title get to my head. It was wrong of me.”

Slowly, a small smile crept onto Hoseok’s face. He felt a flicker of relief, maybe even hope, to see this side of Yoongi. Perhaps, Hoseok thought, Yoongi was finally realizing the weight of his actions.

Yoongi noticed Hoseok’s gentle smile and returned it, then slid his fingers between Hoseok’s, intertwining them together. Hoseok’s breath hitched as he felt Yoongi’s warm touch against his skin, his cheeks flushed a soft pink as Yoongi looked deeply into his eyes, a playful glint hidden in his gaze.

“Can you forgive me?” Yoongi asked, his voice carrying a subtle charm that made Hoseok’s heart skip.

Hoseok smiled wider, nodding. “Of course, Yoongi. I forgive you. I’m… I’m glad you’re finally seeing things differently.” He felt a strange lightness as if all the weight of the past few days had suddenly lifted. He even managed to push aside the memory of Yoongi’s harsh words and threats, as if they’d never happened.

Yoongi’s smirk barely escaped Hoseok’s notice as he leaned in, pulling Hoseok into a warm embrace. “Thank you,” he whispered, his voice low, almost sincere. Hoseok shyly wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s back, his hands moving soothingly across his broad shoulders. In Yoongi’s embrace, he felt dwarfed, aware of the older boy’s sturdy frame and mint-green hair, which brushed softly above his own head.

When Yoongi finally pulled back, Hoseok felt a slight pang of disappointment, though he couldn’t quite explain why. Yoongi looked down at him, an unreadable expression in his eyes.

“So… can we start over? Be friends?” Yoongi asked.

Hoseok’s face brightened instantly, his signature heart-shaped smile nearly blinding in its sincerity. “Yes! I would love that,” he said enthusiastically, his voice full of joy. “And I’m sure the others would be happy to know, too.”

Yoongi returned his smile, pulling him into another hug, resting his chin on Hoseok’s head. Hoseok felt a quiet happiness settle over him, his heart fluttering in a way he hadn’t expected.

But as Yoongi held him close, a dark satisfaction bloomed within him, hidden beneath his calm exterior.

His plan was in motion.
