Three weeks later...

Three weeks had passed since that night, and the lingering effects still weighed heavily on Hoseok’s heart. He sat cross-legged on his bed, a bowl of rice smothered in sauce balanced on his lap, chopsticks in hand as he absently picked at his food. The movie playing on his computer screen flickered in the dim light, but Hoseok found it impossible to focus on anything other than the gnawing sadness in his chest. Exams had finished for the term, and next week, an annual party to celebrate the students’ successes loomed on the horizon. Yet, as he stared blankly at the screen, he couldn’t bring himself to care about what to wear, or if he even wanted to go at all.

He didn’t want to attend the party. He wanted to wallow in his own misery, to hide away in his room and ignore the world outside. But attendance was compulsory; all students were required to go, and the thought of facing a crowd without Yoongi by his side felt unbearable.

Ever since that night they shared, Yoongi had been avoiding him—skipping classes, steering clear of the campus, and slipping past Hoseok as if he were a ghost. Though it hurt more than he could express, Hoseok tried to convince himself that life went on. They hadn’t officially broken up; there was still a glimmer of hope in his heart that Yoongi would come back, that they could fix things. He knew it was foolish, but love has a way of making you cling to hope, even when the situation seemed hopeless.

As he chewed absently, a knock on the door startled him from his thoughts. He sighed, assuming it was Jungkook, who often dropped by to check on him.

“Just a minute,” he called out, pausing the movie before setting the bowl aside. He climbed off the bed, a mix of anticipation and dread swirling in his stomach. Opening the door, he gasped softly, his breath hitching at the sight of Yoongi standing before him, looking as casual as ever.

“Yoongi…” he breathed, his heart racing as the familiar warmth flooded back, despite the coldness in Yoongi's eyes. He stepped aside, allowing Yoongi to walk into the room. Hoseok locked the door behind him and stood awkwardly in front of it, unsure of what to say or do.

Before Hoseok could muster a greeting, Yoongi’s voice cut through the air like a knife. “I want to break up.”

The words struck Hoseok like a physical blow. His eyes widened in disbelief, and tears quickly filled them. “What?” he gasped, rushing towards Yoongi. He grasped his hand desperately, feeling the warmth of his skin against his own. “Please, don’t say that! I love you!”

Yoongi yanked his hand back, glaring at Hoseok with a coldness that cut deep. “I don’t love you anymore,” he said bluntly. “I want a breakup. Period.”

The words hung in the air, a chilling finality that sent Hoseok’s emotions spiraling. Fury ignited within him as he stepped forward, his voice rising. “After three weeks of ignoring me, you just waltz in here and demand a breakup? Who does that?”

“I do,” Yoongi shot back, his voice devoid of warmth. “I don’t want to stay in this relationship anymore.”

Hoseok’s lips quivered as he fought back tears, desperation flooding his words. “Please, don’t do this! I would do anything!” He rushed forward, grabbing Yoongi’s hand again, placing it against his ass in a bold plea. “I’d gladly let you sleep with me again! Just don’t leave me!”

Yoongi scoffed, pulling away with a look of disdain. “You’re so cheap, Hoseok.”

The shame washed over Hoseok like ice water, and he cried out in anguish. “So you got what you wanted, huh? You slept with me, and now you’re leaving?”

A smirk crept onto Yoongi’s face, the cruel expression twisting the knife deeper. “Brilliant. You get it,” he taunted, tapping Hoseok's cheek with a mocking touch.

Hoseok’s heart shattered at the casual cruelty of Yoongi’s words. In a sudden rush of defiance, he slapped Yoongi's hand away, looking down in shame. “Don’t—”

Yoongi simply scoffed, walking towards the door. “Be prepared, Hoseok. More tears are going to fall from those pretty eyes of yours.”

As the door swung open and Yoongi stepped out, a sob tore itself from Hoseok’s throat. “Yoongi, wait!” he called out, but the sound of the door clicking shut was the only reply.

Once he was alone, the weight of despair crashed down on him like a tidal wave. He collapsed to the floor, kneeling as he buried his face in his hands, his body shaking with sobs. The anguish was unbearable, the ache in his chest consuming him entirely.

“Why? Why?” he cried, his voice muffled by his hands as his heart shattered.

The tears flowed unbidden, each sob a reminder of the love he had lost, and the hope that had flickered out. He felt utterly alone, the silence of the room closing in around him as he cried his heart out, the emptiness echoing back in cruel mockery.
