Hoseok strolled down the hallway, feeling lighter than he had in days. The unexpected turn in his relationship with Yoongi had left him in a daze—hopeful, even. The icy hostility had melted away, replaced by what he could only describe as warmth. It felt like a fresh start.

He pushed open the door to his classroom, and a few classmates turned their heads, whispering as they noticed him. Hoseok offered a small smile and took his seat, pulling out his notebook. But his thoughts wandered back to Yoongi’s apology, to the way they’d hugged. A slight blush warmed his cheeks.

Minutes later, Yoongi entered the classroom with a confident stride, his gaze scanning the room until it landed on Hoseok. With a subtle smirk, he walked over and slid into the seat next to him, drawing curious stares from the other students. Hoseok felt a surge of nerves as he looked over at Yoongi, who leaned back casually, his eyes twinkling with something Hoseok couldn’t quite place.

“Hey,” Yoongi said, his voice softer than usual. “Good to see you.”

Hoseok blinked, a little caught off guard by the friendly tone. “Hey,” he replied, managing a smile. “Thanks… again. For yesterday.”

Yoongi shrugged, looking around the classroom. “No need to thank me. Friends look out for each other, right?”

Friends. The word warmed Hoseok, even if he sensed a strange undertone in Yoongi’s voice. “Yeah. I… I think this is going to be good for both of us,” Hoseok replied, hoping he sounded as positive as he felt.

Just then, one of Yoongi’s friends from yesterday—Hyun—came over with a knowing grin. He clapped Yoongi on the shoulder, casting a playful look at Hoseok. “Looks like you’re making good on that bet, Yoongi.”

Yoongi shot him a warning glance, a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. “Not here, hyun.”

Hoseok’s brows furrowed slightly, glancing between them. “Bet?” he asked, trying to keep his voice casual.

Hyun laughed, waving a hand dismissively. “Oh, it’s nothing. Just some friendly competition. Yoongi’s always been one to rise to a challenge.” He shot Yoongi a quick wink before heading back to his seat.

Yoongi leaned in closer to Hoseok, lowering his voice. “Ignore him. Hyun’s always stirring up trouble.”

“Right…” Hoseok nodded, feeling a bit uneasy but trying to brush it off.

Yoongi’s smirk softened, and he changed the subject quickly, asking about the upcoming exams. Their conversation flowed surprisingly naturally, and for a moment, Hoseok’s earlier suspicion faded. Maybe Yoongi really had turned over a new leaf.

When class ended, Hoseok packed up his things, and Yoongi matched his pace as they walked out together. “Do you want to study together sometime?” Yoongi asked, his voice casual. “I know the material pretty well—maybe I could help you prepare.”

Hoseok’s heart lifted at the offer. “Really? That’d be great! I could use the help.”

“Then it’s a plan,” Yoongi said, his tone as friendly as ever. But as he glanced away, the familiar hint of a smirk played at his lips, hidden from Hoseok’s view.

And while Hoseok felt hopeful about their new friendship, unaware of Yoongi’s true intentions, the wheels of deception were already in motion.
