April 2026

"Christopher?" Amelia called, sounding annoyed.

"Yes dear?" Chan called back, sounding sarcastically chipper.

"Where did you pack the diapers?" Amelia called from the porch.

"In the diaper bag..." Chan said in an obvious tone.

Then Jeongin ran down the hall, sliding on his socks. He stopped at the bedroom door.

"Dad. Why are you being sassy?" He scolded Chan.

"I'm not being "sassy," I'm just tired." Chan said.

"Yeah well, if I ever said I was "just tired" after being sassy, I'd get my phone taken away." Jeongin said.

Chan was hunched over, looking for a lost toy under the bed.

He turned to look at Jeongin with a scowl.

"I'm not being "sassy"." Chan said again.

"Sure sounds like it to me." Jeongin said, rolling his eyes.

"Where did you put the diaper bag?" Amelia called.

Chan sighed. Then he spotted the toy. He reached as far as he could, and grabbed it.

Then he stood up straight, and walked out of the room.

Jeongin followed him.

Chan rushed to the hallway where Eden was throwing a tantrum.

"Here. Look. I found it. Okay?" He said, trying to appease the 2 year old.

She gave the toy one look, and started crying again. "Noooo!"

Chan threw his head back in frustration.

He gave up on finding the toy she wanted, and instead, picked her up, kicking and screaming, and brought her out to the car seat.

Amelia came out, obviously frustrated by now.

Again, Jeongin and Byron followed, ready to get in the car.

"Why are you putting her in there already? I haven't even found the bag you supposedly packed!" Amelia asked, frustrated and confused.

Chan gritted his teeth.

"I TOLD you where it was!" He snapped angrily.

Byron gave Chan a fierce look.

"DAD!" Jeongin yelled. "You need an attitude adjustment!" He said, obviously repeating what Chan had said to him a few times when he got snippy.

Chan stopped and looked at all the upset faces surrounding him. He rubbed his forehead from the stress.

"I'm sorry." He said primarily to Amelia.

She glared at him.

"Okay. Look, I'll get the bag, okay? Everyone else just get in the car please."

Chan said.

He could tell by the look on Amelia's face, that she would have a lot to say to him tonight once the kids were in bed.

He went inside to find the bag, and even he had trouble finding it. It wasn't where he thought he left it.

He came back out to the car.

When he got, he looked in the back seat. The glares from Jeongin and Byron were burning right through him.
