Chan sat at the table with a smile, admiring his family as they ate breakfast together.
Byron was home for the weekend, taking a much needed break from his nursing job at the hospital.
"So you're gonna transfer?" Chan asked as his phone rang.
"Yeah. It's too far of a drive." Byron said, scarfing down the food as if he hadn't eaten in years.
"What? Did you not eat after work?" Chan asked.
"I didn't eat or sleep, I just drove here after, and I had a 12 hour shift." Byron said, the bags under his eyes very visible.
Chan nodded as he stood up and walked a few steps away to answer his phone.
"Hello?""Hi, hyung." Minho whispered.
Chan was distracted, looking at Elliott. "DON'T spit that out!" He scolded.
Minho hummed as he waited for Chan to actually pay attention.
Elliott made a begging face as he puffed out his cheeks, about to spit out the bite of applesauce.
"Sweetie, don't spit out your food. That's not polite." Amelia said calmly, annoyed that Chan went right into scolding him like that.
Elliott furrowed his brows and spit out the food back into his bowl.
Byron raised his eyebrows.
Amelia sighed. "Why did you do that?" She asked. "And why did you spit it back in the bowl?"
Byron rolled his eyes.
"Iz gwoss. So not yummy." Elliott said firmly.
"It's not gross. It's homemade. It just doesn't have added sugar!" Amelia reasoned.
Elliott put his spoon down. "I want cereal!" He demanded.
Amelia sighed as she stood up to get Elliott different food.
Byron scoffed. "Why do you let him do that? I would've gotten yelled at if I did that."
"You would not have." Amelia said.
Byron widened his eyes in disbelief. "Mama, you definitely wouldn't have let me spit food out and then demand something else."
Chan cringed as he tried to pay attention to what Minho was saying, but all he could focus on was Elliott's behaviour.
"Just give me a minute." He said to Minho. He walked over to Amelia. "Baby, don't you think you're being a bit lenient?" He asked.
Amelia looked at him with a glare. "Well, he doesn't like it! What am I supposed to do? Force feed it to him?" She snapped.
Chan was a bit surprised. "Uhhh." He started nervously. "I didn't mean that, I just meant that maybe you should at least correct him for -"
"Just back off." Amelia said angrily, shocking everyone in the room. Even Elliott seemed a bit worried now.
Eden and Byron looked back and forth between Amelia and Chan.
Their parents both looked at each other with cold eyes.
Finally, Eden got up and went to sit on Byron's lap, feeling very unsure of what to do."Are they gonna fight?" Eden whispered.
"I don't know. But if they do, we should record it cuz it's probably never gonna happen again." Byron said.
Eden smiled a little at Byron's attempt to lighten the mood.
