(Finally getting some true fall weather here in Oregon, hoping to get out and get some cool shots soon before all the beautiful fall leaves are gone.)

"We're not gonna be able to have a consistent conversation in the next twenty minutes or so." Chloe said.

"What? Why not?" Max asked.

"You ate all these gummies?" Rachel asked in shock, holding up the plastic bag.

"Uh... yeah.. why?" Max asked.

"Oh gosh." Rachel said.

"Guys. What's going on?" Max asked.

"Um. I am so sorry. I didn't mean to leave these in here. It was a total accident." Rachel said.

"They were edibles." Chloe said.

Max still looked confused.

"Weed Max." Chloe said.

Max's stomach sunk.

"Oh shit." Max said. "What do we do?"

"Well, only one thing you can do. Wait it out." Chloe said.

"Seriously? Like, there's nothing I can do to counteract it?"

Chloe shook her head.

"Once it's been absorbed into your bloodstream you're kind of screwed." Rachel said. "You might be down for a while."

"How long?" Max asked.

Chloe sucked in air through her teeth.

"How long?" Max asked again.

"Well..... considering it's your first time having weed, meaning you don't have any tolerance, it could be a couple days."

"A couple days?!" Max asked in a panic.

Her limbs started to tingle but she didn't know if that was the weed or her anxiety.

"Yeah... you'll probably sleep for a while though!" Chloe said. "Then you'll be really groggy until it all leaves your system."

"Oh god. Oh god oh GOD." Max said.

"Hey, it's okay. Just relax." Rachel said.

Max scoffed.

"I'm gonna be high for several days Rachel. Don't tell me to relax!" Max shouted.

The tingling in her limbs faded and now they just felt heavy.

"I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that." Max apologized. "I'm just scared. I'm gonna miss class! How on earth am I suppose to explain this?"

"I'll tell them your sick." Rachel said. "They won't question it. Chloe will stay to keep an eye on you and I'll take notes and make sure you get all your work. Plus, you'll probably only miss tomorrow which is Friday and then you have the whole weekend to bounce back."

Max tried to take a deep breath to calm herself but she couldn't, her lungs felt heavy and she could only breathe in small bursts.

"I can't.. I can't breathe.." Max said, putting a hand on her chest.

"Uh oh. Here we go." Chloe said.

Max looked between Rachel and Chloe in panic.

"Here what goes?" Max asked nervously, as a cold feeling of dread descended upon her.

"The worst hour or so of your life." Rachel said, grimacing.

"What?!" Max asked, full panic kicking in.
