(Photograph is of a lighthouse on the Oregon coast taken by me. This beach was beautiful and the hike to the lighthouse gave me hella life is strange vibes. Wouldn't be surprised if this beach was the one that inspired Arcadia Bay.)

Max's POV:
-
It's a Friday afternoon and thankfully my afternoon class of the day has been canceled. I decide to head to Chloe's early. Chloe, Rachel and I always spend the weekend together. Chloe usually picks us both up at the end of the day but since Rachel still has a class I just decide to take the bus over.

I arrive and head up to the door surprising Chloe who is momentarily convinced she confused the time and forgot to come get us. I explain, and she leads me up to her room.

"You really had me for a moment there Caulfield." She says, closing the door behind me. "Anyway, what do you want to do?"

"I dunno, I figured we could just hang out until Rachel gets out." I say.

"Okay."

Chloe and I both agree to listen to some music and play one of the old video games we used to play as kids.

"Damn you're still good at this." I say, as Chloe beats me for the third time.

"I'm just that good Caulfield." She says.

I roll my eyes and spot something on the wall. At first I think it's just a strange speck or maybe one of Chloe's graffitis. But upon further scrutiny I see it crawl slowly closer to where we're sitting.

"What?" Chloe asks noticing me staring behind her.

She turns around and glances at the wall.

"What? What is it. You look like you've just seen a ghost Max."

"Uh, it's a... a huge spider." I say pointing.

She glances over and finally spots it.

She laughs.

"Oh come on. It's not that big." She gets up and grabs an old Pizza box that's been on her floor for who knows how long.

She moves towards it bravely and I see her falter for a second, but then she smashes the cardboard down on top of it.

I sigh in relief but it quickly turns into a scream when the spider scuttles out from under the box and speeds up the wall. I get up and back over to Chloes bed.

Chloe drops the pizza box and runs over to me.

"What? What? I killed it." She says slightly panicked now.

"Uh. No you didn't." I say pointing at it's new location near the ceiling.

"How did it survive that?!" She asks.

"I dunno. But how are we going to get it now? I'm not tall enough to reach it. And neither are you." I say.

She thinks for a moment.

"I got it." She grabs her desk chair and moves it to the wall while I keep an eye on the spider to make sure it doesn't move.

She grabs the pizza box and hands it to me.

"Okay, you jump up there and squish him." She says.

"No way." I say shoving the pizza box into her hands. "I'm not doing it."

"Fine." She says moving over to the chair.

She gets up and slowly moves the pizza box towards it but the spider moves a fraction of an inch and she drops the box and screams running over to me.

"What was that?!" I ask, laughing slightly at her reaction.

"It moved." She says grabbing my arm.
