Max's POV:
-
I squeal and jump back narrowly avoiding the nerf bullet Rachel sent my way. Chloe's idea of fun on a Saturday afternoon just so happened to be a nerf war. Every girl for herself in the price household. Joyce was working at the diner while David was helping out with the weekend security at Blackwell. Rachel and I had insisted on a beach day but Chloe had other plans.

"Truce!" I yell out to Rachel setting my gun down and sliding it across the floor at her.

She emerges from her shelter behind the couch holding her gun at me. I put my hands up.

"What's this Max?" Rachel asks with a smirk.

"A truce. I want to make an alliance."

"Chloe said no alliances Max, you heard the rules." She says still holding her gun on me.

"Yeah, but if Chloe has taught me anything its that you don't actually have to follow rules." I say.

Rachel lowers her gun slowly.

"Okay, I'm intrigued. What's the plan?" She asks.

"I know where Chloe's hiding." I say. "She'll be near the swing set. It was home base anytime we played these games as kids."

Rachel looks into the backyard and then back at me.

"Okay, but what do I get out of it?"

"Bragging rights, and maybe we can switch this over to a beach day."

"Deal." Rachel says lowering her gun all the way and holding her hand out.

We shake on it and I pick my gun up and follow Rachel to the backyard. Sure enough Chloe is hiding near the old swing set.

She shoots at us and I duck away just in time.

"What?! Are you two ganging up on me?! I said no alliances!" She shouts, running to take cover behind the piece of wood we painted as kids.

"Sorry Chlo." I say aiming and taking shot.

She reaches the cover and my bullet misses it's mark.

"I got her Max!" Rachel shouts running after her.

Right before she can reach Chloe she gets shot and pauses and then falls dramatically to the grass.

"Noooo." She shouts. "She got me. Avenge my death Max!"

Chloe aims her gun at me and shoots but nothing happens.

"Out of bullets?" I ask advancing on her.

"Shit shit shit." She shouts hitting the gun as if it will magically give her more ammo.

She decides to run and I shoot catching her in the back of the leg.

"Dammit." She says hanging her head. "You got me Caulfield. But you did cheat!"

Rachel looks up from her spot in the grass.

"Technically not cheating because I was dead and she still got you." She adds as she gets up, brushing grass of her jeans.

"No, it's still cheating." Chloe says crossing her arms.

"Well, the way I see it, the games over and you promised we could go to the beach if we won." I say.

"Yeah, but you cheated! I want a re-match." She says.

"No. No more. I need a relaxing beach day." Rachel says, walking inside.

Chloe huffs and follows.

We get dressed, grab some towels and head to Chloe's truck for the short drive to the beach. It's the perfect day. It's sunny and just the right temperature. We arrive and Rachel picks us a spot on the sand, laying out the towels.

"Ahhh, now we relax." She says laying down to tan.

I lay next to her and Chloe sits in the sand next to us digging patterns in it with a stick. She gets bored quickly and digs through the bag we brought pulling something out that I can't see.

I hear the trigger of a nerf gun and the plastic bullet soars through the air and hits Rachel right in the forehead.

"Chloe. Elizabeth. Price." She says slowly. "Did you seriously just shoot me?" She glares in Chloe's direction rubbing her forehead and sits up.

Chloe can't help but laugh and when I see the small speck on Rachel's head where the bullet hit I can't help but laugh too. Rachel laughs with us for a second but then jumps up, rushing at Chloe. Chloe squeals and runs and Rachel chases after her down the beach past a few other groups soaking up the sun. I watch them run through the water and Rachel finally tackles Chloe grabbing the gun and now it's Chloe's turn to run as Rachel begins shooting relentlessly.

I can't imagine how boring my life would be without the two of them and I smile to myself as I pull out my camera for some pics. Another perfect day in Arcadia Bay.

I really enjoyed writing this one. It was a random idea that just popped into my head and I had to write it down. Hope you enjoyed!
