I walked back inside the house with Carl. The sun was beginning to set and the walkers growls were growing louder. We walked up the stairs like everything was normal. Beth was sitting in the living room reading a book and Judith was playing on the floor. Carl went over to Judith and picked her up.

I walked up the stairs and ran into my bedroom. I grabbed my gun from underneath the bed and a box of bullets. I found my gun holster and attatched it to my belt. I slipped the gun inside and shoved the box of bullets into my back pocket.

I went back downstairs and sat with Beth.

"Where's Maggie?" Beth asked.

"She left. She went to look for Glenn. I tried to stop her but-" I was interrupted by the front door creaking open.

"Hi girls. And Carl." Maggie spoke softly as she entered the house.

"Maggie?" I gasped as I stood up and ran over to her.

Beth followed and joined in on our hug.

"I'm sorry." Maggie said as she held us close.

"Don't be. You needed to know, or at least try." I understood what she was going through.

I didn't get it when she left me a few hours prior, but I did then.

"I didn't even know you left, or that Glenn wasn't back. What kinda of sister am I?" Beth said sadly.

"A great sister. And a great babysitter. You've been protecting her." Maggie smiled as she pointed to Judith.

"Yeah." I agreed.

"I'm gonna go to sleep. But I want you guys to lock up all the windows and doors down here. And lock your bedroom doors tonight. Someone should keep Judith in their room since Rick is gonna be out patrolling all night." Maggie explained to us as she walked up the stairs.

"Yes Maggie." I answered as I got up and started to check the living room windows to make sure that they were locked and secure.

Carl got up and followed my lead. He sat Judith down on the floor and she picked up one of her stuffed animals. Carl began locking the doors.

"Hey, go check and make sure the garage is all locked up, will you?" I asked.

Carl nodded and walked towards the door to the garage. He picked up the keys from the counter and went in. He came back inside and locked the door to the garage. Once I'd dealt with all the windows, I locked the front door.

Nothing was gonna get in.

"I can take Judith into my room tonight." Carl walked over to Beth.

"No, it's alright. She can stay with me. All her stuff is already set up in Grace and I's room anyways." Beth smiled as she lifted Judith from the ground.

It was really dark in the house as the sun had already set and we weren't using any of our lights. The whole neighborhood was pitch black almost. It was unusual. When we weren't exchanging words inside the house, we could hear the faint growls of the walkers. That's why I hated silence.

Beth headed up the stairs with Judith and I heard our bedroom door click shut. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a flashlight from the drawer. I clicked it on and held it to the ceiling so we would have a little light in the room.

"Hey, my dad said no lights." Carl looked at me with his eyebrow raised.

"I don't think the walkers are gonna see the light from this singular flashlight, Carl." I rolled my eyes.
