Grace

A few days had passed since the saviors and Negan paid us a little visit. They hadn't been back, which I took as a good sign because that would mean Negan hasn't found anything out about the photo. At least I hoped that's what the lack of their presence meant.

I was sitting on the floor in Carl's room on the makeshift bed that I now had to share with him. I didn't mind, because it gave us an excuse to share a room together. The only downside was that it was uncomfortable as anything. I had Judith and Hellboy in my lap as Carl was tossing darts at the wall.

It was a part of his PT that Denise had told him to do before she... well you know... died. It was to help him with his aim and vision or something like that. After all this time he still hadn't made one onto the board, they were simply sticking into the doorframe and tearing up the wood. But I didn't say anything, at least he was getting them into the wall, because before they didn't even make it there.

Judith was fussing in my arms and Hellboy was meowing at me.

"Oh my gosh guys, one at a time, please." I looked down at the two of them.

Judith looked up at me and started giggling as she reached out for Hellboy.

"Kitty kitty!" She cooed.

"You've got a full time job with them." Carl laughed as he pulled the darts out of the doorframe.

"A kitten and a toddler. Not an easy job." I smiled.

"Yeah, well, you do a good job with it." He stepped back and began throwing his darts again.

"I try my best." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Hey guys." Rick said as he stepped into view in the room.

"Hi." I looked up with both Judith and Hellboy still cradled in my arms.

"You've got your hands full." Rick let out a small grin.

"Carl, I'm goin' on a run with Aaron. You should come with. Grace can come too." Rick invited us to go find supplies for the saviors with him.

"No. I don't wanna go." Carl replied as he continued to throw the darts, (and miss every single time.)

"Grace?" Rick looked over at me.

"I mean-" I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to let down Rick and I also didn't want to leave Carl.

"Just stay, Grace. Judith needs someone to watch over her. She'll be better off if we're both here." Carl said, sounding almost a little irritated.

"But-" I tried to defend myself, not wanting to come between Rick and Carl.

"It's fine, Grace. I'll be gone for a while. You two, keep an eye on things. Keep an eye on Judith." Rick said as he tapped on the door before he left.

Once I heard Rick go down the stairs and the door shut, I set Judith and Hellboy down on the blankets.

"Where you going?" Carl turned to look at me.

"I'm just gonna go get some water." I said as I walked down the stairs.

I went into the kitchen and saw Michonne heading out the door.

"Bye, Michonne." I smiled.

"Oh, bye Grace. Hey, would you remind Carl to change his bandage? And to be nice to Olivia?" Michonne laughed a little.
