Neon had once been adept in the art of sleeping in crowded or over stocked places, growing up there never really was much of a choice for him, but he had been at the base with his own room for too long. Sharing a bed with Goldie and Kid was a bit too much for him now.
He remained on the end of the bed, Kid snuggling next to him and Goldie next to her. Ava had arranged an odd motel for them to stay at, but there were only two singular beds in the room. Goldie didn't want to leave the two of them out of his sight while they were staying there and Kid didn't want to be alone, and quite frankly, Neon didn't trust this place to leave her alone.
So all in the same bed they were.
Neon was running out of room to sleep though. Kid was snuggling into him, which meant closing any and all space between them, and any little movement away from her she quickly filled. Goldie seemed to be taking up most of the bed.
Neon sighed as he stared at the growingly interesting ceiling until he was forced to dose off from boredom and general fatigue.
But in the middle of the night, he woke up.
His side felt cold.
He reached his arm out to find Kid and maybe press her against his side again for warmth, but his arm couldn't find her.
He looked down to where Kid was, but she wasn't anywhere near him, where she was wasn't even warm. Neon rubbed his eyes as he looked around the room for her, she seemed to be standing in front of the door, but it was wide open. Neon yawned, he was very drowsy, but for some reason, Kid's silhouette was creeping him out. Especially since she wasn't doing anything, she was just standing there staring outside into the darkness.
"Kid..." Neon dully called.
Kid didn't respond straight away, she stared for a moment and vaguely heard Neon. She felt something drawing her outside, for some reason it felt excited and bubbly in her stomach, anticipation was tingling her insides, like she was missing out on something fun. But at the same time, Kid also stared completely and utterly horrified, but she didn't quite know what was scaring her but making her so excited.
Neon sobered up from his sleep, "Kid," he said a little firmer.
The door slammed closed, making Goldie jump in his sleep, and Kid turned and strolled back to the bed. She climbed back on it and leaned her back against the bedframe and looked to Neon, who stared at her confused, "what happened?"
Kid folded her arms and sighed as she shuffled down the blankets and snuggled under them, but she turned her back to Neon.
You'll find out in the morning...

The trio looked before them at the small windmill, there was a crowd of people behind some tap someone had set up to keep people from going inside. Seemed like someone had been decent enough to go in and collect what was within.
Neon sighed through his nose as he watched two men walked out of the windmill holding a stretcher covered in a blanket. The stretcher was occupied with a being that wouldn't ever live again.
Someone had found the body early in the morning and the news spread like wildfire, like gossip in a small town does. Neon found it odd, you don't just murder somebody in a small town. And he found it odd he and Kid had arrived and then someone wound up dead.
But everybody was off, their faces and emotions were off. Nobody seemed overly sad about the death, but nobody seemed completely happy. Nobody cried, or sobbed or even spoke, they stared at the situation as if it was just another day in their muddy boring lives.
