Kid dismissed Lives' words and looked at the material on the walls.
"What else does it say?" Harold asked.
Cameron shrugged. "I don't know what this text says," he explained, feeling dumb as he put the page down.
The adults continued to talk to each other, while Kid remained staring at one page in particular; a age stained page with a picture of a girl in black and a girl in white. The image showed them facing each other, just beyond their fingertips as they each reached for the other. Behind both girls there were shadows draped behind them and odd looking fireflies. All around them however there was writing written in the language they were attempting to translate.
Kid wasn't completely lying to them, she didn't know what the language said off by heart.
But she knew what this one page was about.
Her lips quivered as she looked back to everyone to make sure they were busy. She lashed forwards, and snatched the page off the wall and scrunched it quietly in her hands before stuffing it down her tunic.
Everybody was too busy talking to each other to notice, and Kid took this moment to leave.
She galloped down the hallways and ran around the corner and leaned on the wall in exhaustion as she huffed and leaned on her knees. She eventually pulled the paper out of her tunic and held it in her hands. How should she get rid of it?
Let it burn...
Kid pressed her lips together when the voice echoed in her head, but listened to it as the paper suddenly started smoking and burning where her finger touched it. It started to slowly evaporate outwards from where it was burned and was soon not even a pile of ashes.
"Decided to run away from it as well?" Neon's voice made her jump as she turned to him, he had followed her after he saw her run out.
Kid smirked and nodded.
"I need to get my mind off all this," he informed gesturing around him. "I'm gonna explore a little bit. Get a better feel for the place, you wanna come?"
Kid smiled a bit brighter and nodded.
Neon nodded as he started walking down the hallways with Kid hopping behind him.
Mary watched Kid leave followed by Neon, everybody had been talking over the top of each other. So while they attempted to explain things, she walked over to one of the researchers. "Do you think you could help me out?" she asked.
The woman nodded as she looked to the trainee Ringleader, "What do you need?"
"I had a dagger with troll slush on it sent in here for testing and I was wondering if any results had gotten back yet," she explained.
The researcher nodded, no longer finding what the Travellers say weird anymore, as she went to investigate on Mary's behalf. Jason stood behind Mary, "what was that?"
Mary turned and saw both the Ringleaders behind her. "When Kid first escaped, she had been attacked by a swamp troll and a large spider. It was when Neon got eaten by an Eliminator," Mary explained. They both nodded, remembering what she was talking about. "The troll had melted, so I stabbed the ground it was on and sent it here for analysis," she explained, "I'm just seeing if we have any results."
"We already know other species know about Kid," Harold explained.
"But the melting troll was before that odd auction at the party," Jason replied thinking.
Mary nodded, "I'm just wondering who knew before anybody else."
The researcher came back, holding a now clean dagger and passing both a paper and the weapon to Mary. Mary pocketed the dagger and handed the results to the Ringleaders. Jason narrowed his eyes as he looked at it. "Witches," he explained allowing Harold to look it over, "from the swamplands I'm thinking. Most likely the trolls were sent out to collect anything with a powerful energy source."
