Neon leaned against the wall by his bed. After seeing a demonstration of Charms on the tight rope, and a gut wrenching yet deliberate fall she performed, Neon and Kid went back to his room. Neon had, oddly enough, managed to find a pair of scissors. Kid disappeared into her room momentarily, and just when Neon thought he'd have a few moments to himself, she came running back in, armed with her odd little Fire-Folk, the scissors, some thin crate paper, and some string.
Neon had no clue where she got half of that stuff.
But she started folding and making something spherical.
Neon continued to watch until Kid had managed to create what looked like a lantern. There was a small circle in the top. She opened the jar of Fire-Folk and let them out into the open of the room. Neon watched as they buzzed around.
"What the hell, Kid?" Neon asked, he sounded very tired.
Kid grabbed at the Fire-Folk individually, she slapped them into her hands, peered inside to make sure it was okay, and trapped it in the lantern. The light within it was a pink colour on the outside because of the colour of the paper. Neon smirked as he watched Kid leap and jump and trap and grab. That is until she couldn't reach the Fire-Folk that were too tall for her to grab. She whined as she attempted to jump for them.
Neon's hand wrapped around a zipping Fire-Folk and lowered it so Kid could reach it. Kid smiled as she grabbed at it and put it in the lantern.
This went on for a while until the room was empty of wandering Fire-Folk.
"There, we've caught them all," he informed as Kid fiddled with the lantern so that it closed off. Kid held it up for an opinion. Neon shrugged, "yeah, it's pretty cool," he stated. He wasn't lying; the lights looked pretty cool for a girl's room maybe.
Kid smiled as she continued to fiddle with the lantern. Neon started fiddling with his hooked fishing rod, the string had been tangled. He grunted in annoyance as he started untangling it. "You excited to be going home?" Neon asked.
Kid froze halfway through what she was doing. Neon froze with what he was doing as well, "You are excited, aren't you?" he repeated.
Kid looked to him, would you be excited to go home?
Neon twinged at the question, with him it was different, and he couldn't face going home for personal reasons. His old life was there, his old family and whatever people he classified as friends were there. He wasn't so much he wanted to cry, but he didn't want to think about it too much... he didn't exactly leave on good terms.
At his silence, Kid went back to what she was doing.
But Neon spoke up again, "why don't you want to go home?" he asked suddenly. She didn't seem like some sort of depressed or broken down little girl, she seemed confused easily, sure, but she didn't seem... utterly and completely lost or broken in any way.
Kid looked up and glared at him, I don't ask about yours, you don't ask about mine, she practically hissed, you'll probably see soon enough, but until then I don't want to talk about it.
This spat took Neon back a bit, but at the same time he smirked and rolled his eyes.
Kid was excited to be going home, but at the same time terrified, not for her, but for whoever would come with her.
She held onto the lantern and released it, the Fire-Folk inside were attempting to fly, making the lightweight lantern fly in the air slowly. Neon smirked as he watched Kid bounce it off the tip of her fingers like a balloon. It floated over to Neon, who simply tapped it back. Kid held onto it and plonked herself on the ground. She softly threw it to the occupied Neon. He tapped it to make it go away, but Kid constantly replied by tapping it back to him.
