Neon managed to take a couple of deep breaths as he stood before the doctor. Days later, the whole situation seemed to have passed enough for everybody to either forgive him or let it go for the moment. Jason and Harold seemed to think the conclusion of the thief and Representative making up was inevitable, but what he did wouldn't go unpunished.
So far Neon wasn't aware of the punishment, but what he was making himself do was probably torture enough for him.
Kid stood behind him while the doctor stood in front of them in the morgue. The doctor had a vague idea as to what Neon had done to Kid, but also another idea of how hard doing this probably was for him.
The doctor held onto the handle of a metal door in the wall and froze. "Are you sure about this, son?" the man asked.
Neon sighed heavily through his nose and nodded, "Yes... just please hurry up before I chicken out," Neon instructed.
The doctor shrugged, "okay then." He pulled the handle and the contents of the shelf were revealed.
Mel remained lying there, her eyes closed, her skin pale and her general features were peaceful as if she was simply asleep, not actually dead.
Neon's heart began beating itself up as he kneeled down beside Mel. He pressed his lips together, determined not to cry this time, but he was finding it difficult as he stared at Mel. She was too young to simply die...
Jason stood by the door to the morgue and looked in on Neon.
He was wondering what would get the young thief to cry. Other than pain, Jason didn't really think an emotional angle would make him upset, but he was human, so it was probably inevitable. Neon seemed to stare at the young girl's body with the most shiny but blankest eyes Jason had ever seen someone, who was looking at a loved one, had ever done. But he could sense his distress at seeing this, and by the looks of it so was the doctor and little Kid who stood behind him.
But after a moment, Kid walked up next to him and held his hand softly in her own.
Neon's attention went away from Mel for a moment as he straightened himself up and sighed as he looked to Mel again. "Good bye, Mel," he mumbled as he leaned forwards and gave the lifeless little Mel a kiss on the forehead before standing. Neon looked to the doctor, "I'm sorry if I wasted your time for this."
The doctor shook his head, "no, don't worry about it, Neon. Everybody needs some closure."
Neon managed a small smile and nodded, "thanks..." He looked to Mel one more time before taking his gaze away and started walking out of the little morgue, going past Jason as if he wasn't there. Kid trailed behind him, her hand still attached to his because he was still holding her.
Neon managed to go around the corner before he broke down into tears and leaned against the wall, he slid down and sat on the ground. He couldn't help it.
Kid stood before him, allowing his hand to slip from hers to aid his sad eyes.
Kid was trying not to cry herself, trying not to be emotional at the moment because it was Neon's turn. It was his turn to cry and her turn to remain composed enough to make sure he was okay.
Neon remembered Kid was in front of him and somewhat laughed at himself. "Sorry, Kid," he informed sniffing and wiping his eyes, he managed to compose himself enough to not look like a sobbing mess.
Kid remained just standing there and calmly watching him as he seemed to slowly come out of his sobbing fit.
Neon sighed as he stood up and seemed to dust imaginary dirt off his clothes and readjusted the butt of his pants. "Okay... you wanna go to the Common Room or something?" he asked.
