Nicky fell backwards, barely being caught by Mary and Goldie when he stumbled over. Live remained standing before him as she held his soul strings. They were a soft blue colour, but tainted by fear. The soul strings released memory out of pressure, resulting in several television like images to be play in the air.
Most were his; guns blaring, nightmares fighting, his mechanical work, escaping his institute, and the welcoming hand that protected him since then. Images of the agents, when they were younger to present day, played different scenarios from the first day he met Kimberly to the soft kiss Charms had given him for a job well done.
But an image of Cameron as he held up the evidence that said Kid had been framed, the fabric being ripped from the wrong section of her to be plausible, and an image Natalie popped up as she hung off the end of the rooftop of her home, looking up to Dominick as he looked down at her, a calm expression across his face, as he stabbed her fingers with the feet of his walking stick until she fell, followed by him planting the fabric on the railing before simply leaving like nothing had happened.
All of these memories wrapped up together, each leading to Live as she held a small ball made up of his soul strings.
"The power of Death," Dominick said smiling, "Wrong person Live, but I believe it made our point."
Jason was stuck to the spot as he watched his Nicky lying on the ground.
Live started to back away, then walking away entirely. The agents too tangled up or distraught about Nicky to give chase.
But Neon, out of anger, stood up and ran after her.
Live wasn't expecting it at first, and barely managed to keep herself from stumbling when he jumped on her back. She managed to flick him off, but he continued forwards trying to get rid of some of his fury, mentally daring her to do the same thing to him as she had to Nicky. His anger clouding his judgement as he charged at her again. She used his speed to her advantage, grabbing his head and throwing him under her arm so he stumbled to the floor and away from her.
Neon was too angry to think properly, too angry to rely on his brains over brawn motto as he forced himself to his feet and tried a second time.
Live didn't retreat, but she didn't hurt him as she let him hit her, sending them both to the ground. But upon impact Live turned into a dark mist and Neon simply hit the ground on his own. Live stood above him and practically straddled his back and leaned over to his ear. "Don't be stupid, thief. You're brains are all you've got," she said. It sounded like it was meant to be an insult, but her tone was throat cringing, like it was a strain to talk.
Her presence left his back, before Neon could get up and attack her again, she was too far off the ground for him to reach.
Dominick readjusted Kid as Live came to him and Live disappeared into a dark light that lingered around him. Dominick smiled down to everybody as they continued to look at Nicky. Kid looked close to tears as she whimpered and even attempted to jump from his arms to help Nicky, but Dominick's grip on her was too tight and he managed to keep her from falling to the ground.
He softly hushed her, "Big girls don't cry, panda," he informed.
Kid looked down to Neon, who didn't say anything, he just looked and watched as Dominick started flying away. Tears of frustration were threatening to form in him as he watched Kid turn into a soft white light and floated around him like Live was.
What did I tell you, panda? Dominick thought as they zipped through the air on their way to Delco City. Like everybody, he let you go. But we won't let you go, Kid. We'll take care of you.
